Removing HTC installed Apps

I - Newbie here.

Got my nice shiney Desire HD yesterday. First HTC phone, first Android phone...

Impressed on so many levels, but also have some questions and one problem.

1. How can I remove apps that are pre-installed like soundhound, talk, stock. The remove option is greyed out.

2. Can I create a sub folder in the menu tree and move like games into one. I have created a sub folder on the home page, but cant rename it from 'folder'

3. My phone picks up wifi signal at home everytime I am in range. Does this mean wi-fi is always on, searching. My experience from my E71 showed me this kills battery.

And same problem as everyone else, I seem to struggle to get more than 10 hours life from the battery... what gives.

changing ur folder name....open the folder...and press and hold the title (folder)...u will be able to change it now =)

having wi-fi does not drain ur battery at all...if u go...settings>>about phone>>>battery>>>battery use....u wud be able to see what is usin up the battery...lookin at my phone...wi-fi is just 4%...which is very low compared to screen 59%

battery is very poor...im thinkin of gettin spare batteries from ebay =S...just in case...it mite be handy for this phone

Thanks for the reply. That worked a treat.

I have disabled all the widgets on all the home screens. I only have now a clock and calander - which I don't think should require a data update.

From past experience on my Nokia E71, its constant data access that causes massive amounts of battery drain. Seems like alot of people have minimised the number of data intensive apps.

What about adding folders to the menu screen. I find it quite annoying having lots of icons. I would rather have sub folders there too.

Also is there anyway to remove some of those rubbish apps preinstalled.
