So all news points to the thunderbolt shipping with Android 2.2, will this phone most likely be upgradeable to android 2.3 and beyond?

And sice 2.32 is out (the one that fixes SMS bug), do you suppose a 2.3 upgrade will be happening shortly after or right after launch for this phone?

I do not have an android (but getting the TBolt), but does it normally take that long? I mean 2.3 has already been out for a few weeks now, right?

yes carriers have to put their crappy bloatware on the phone which is why it takes so long to get an update and sometimes not even get updates. I mean thats android for you and the reason fragmentation is such a large issue with the os

The beautiful thing about HTC phones is that they have unlocked bootloaders. Technically, I would predict you could run an AOSP version of gingerbread within a few weeks of release.

It won't run 4G though. That being said, I think the Bolt will be the first HTC device to receive the 2.3 update with Sense. That probably won't come for a few month after release. Every HTC phone is pretty much guaranteed 1 upgrade, so the Bolt will definitely get Gingerbread.

What makes you think it wouldnt run 4G after being rooted?

.So I just got the big 75mg upgrade and still have Android 2.2 so unless there is another upgrade coming it doesn't look like it is getting gingerbread any time soon. Wha.t a let down. also no madden NFL 2011 for those of you that were wondering. Once again another let down , oh yeah and the last and final let down is no SKYPE video chat either. So the only hung i noticed that changed is they added some widget changes and took away the clear button in the drop down notification tab. Kind of a big disappointment from Verizon or HTC whoever it was. All I know is I want my clear button back. and give me gingerbread already. Is this too much too ask. Apparently it is.

Gingerbread should be coming out sometime in I believe I heard 3Q or could be the 4th quarter. Also, when it comes to updates, we've seen that HTC can actually fix the bugs, but in order for that to work, they need time. Also, the clear button is still there, if you can see it, try rebooting your phone or do a battery pull. I have no problem seeing my clear button. As for Skype and netflix, I heard about a couple .apk files you can download, which to find those just search the forums for Skype or netflix.

My clear button is still there. Just sent myself an email to check.
