Root How to install ClockworkMod Recovery and Root(solved)

How do I install ClockworkMod Recovery 3+ on the Huawei Assend X?
Hi. Welcome to the forums! I don't know if CWM recovery is compatible with this phone or not. The Ascend x its the same phone as the Huawei IDEOS X6(U9000). You would probably have better luck posting in that forum. I'm not sure why they created a separate forum for the Ascend x, but I think the MODs should combine the two. Are you located in Ohio?

Hi welcome, your Ascend X/Huawei X6 is not compatible with CWM currently and probably wont be for some time.

Unfortunately for you and the rest of Ascend X owners, the only difference between the Ascend X and the Huawei X6 is the Bootloader is locked.

We currently have a active Huawei X6 U9000 section that covers the 10 different variants of the Huawei X6 which the Ascend X now falls under making it #11. These 11 different variants are:

CSL Blueberry Mi 410,
Motorola TRIUMPH
Huawei U9000 IDEOS X6
Cherry Mobile Magnum HD A400
Viewsonic Viewpad 4
Olive Smart VS300
WellcoM A99
Spice CSL Mi 410 - Slim
Axioo Vigo 410
Apanda 101
Ascend X

Pointless asking Mods to add the Ascend X to the Huawei X6 thread, already asked.. must be a USA Vs The rest thing!

cheers

Wait, the Ascend x has a locked bootloader? Do you mean locked as in it hasn't been rooted yet, or signed and encrypted? If it's encrypted, will the Triumph be as well? That would kill a lot of support for that phone. Do you have a source?
I know it seems crazy, but HSPA+ is considered 4g in the States, and that is what they are calling the phone.

Yeah locked, US devices codenamed u9000-81. Locked down as in Guantanamo bay. Someone is currently working on a way around.

CinBell can call it 5G for all i care. Mods however advertising it as 4G is not so cool.

Ill be done with these X6 handsets soon anyways they are nearly a year old soon, still look like they just came out of the box though. Will make a great present for someone special i know.

peace

But does that mean locked forever like the Droid X or just the normal "locked until it's unlocked"?

No I rooted mine so no prob there. Probably the bios is locked even so that if you rooted it the flash bios could still be locked. Yea I live in Cincinnati
I'm in Dayton and considering getting an Ascend X. Are you happy with the phone and Cin Bell service so far? If you have ever been down toward Dayton what kind of 3g service did you get?

Happy with the phone so far at least after i was able to dial down the cpu after I rooted it in order to save battery life. The phone is really fast so that didn't hurt the performance. I live in a area that is on the fringe of HSPA+ and Edge networks, so on the E setting the internet is slow but managable. I am not sure that 3G is that much slower than the "4G" rate. I haven't been to Dayton but have seen 3G on the phone briefly while driving around, but wasnt able to play with it.

Congrats on the root SergeKarol im sure i mentioned in the X6 section the Ascend X shouldnt hav a problem getting Super user. Thanks for confirming this. Have you tried putting the phone in download mode and using SUT 1.7 to flash the asian gingerbread yourself?

For those that dont know what SUT is, it is Software Updating Tool and comes with the WellcoM A99 X6 Gingerbread 2.3.4 download available here

To put phone in download mode, while phone is off, press and hold volume up + power buttons together. After installing SUT on your PC, run it and connect phone in download mode via USB, select your desired rom.nb0 and choose delete user data from the drop down menu and then run the update.

Yes i am downloading it at the speed of a 12.5 modem. That has got to be the slowest download I have made in the last 10 years.

I do have a couple of worries, since I cant make a nandroid backup of my current OS If I have to return the phone to stock condition how do i do this? Could I do a dd copy using linux of each directory?

After downloading, could I not also push the file to the card in download mode in linux?

Yeah the DL was painfully slow for everyone
Mirror here for the WellcoM 2.3.4 Rom, not sure if the SUT 1.7 is inside tho?

Nup u cant do a Nand backup or any backup, I have a stock Froyo backup compatible with any Asian version X6. Your stock Ascend X recovery wont update anything other than a Ascend X backup/Rom. Do you have a CinBell tech support Service Center like Cherry Mobile (Philippines) has tech support?, ie. you need to flash back to stock they will do this.

As for Linux pushing the 'file'? im guessing a nb0.. will prob put your phone in bootloop.

So is the Moto Triumph unlocked then?

I realized this morning I could plug the phone in while in download mode, and it actually allows me to open up an /image folder with the boot.img, recovery.img, a couple of mbn files, etc... Does that mean a custom recovery would be easy to flash if created for the phone?

I know this isn't the Triumph forum, but it's basically the same phone, and you seem to know about this stuff with the foxconn devices...

That was me that replied to you here, seems you followed the instructions ok. I'm pretty sure someone has got a custom recovery onto a Asian version X6, not sure about the Ascend X or Triumph.. haven't kept up on the latest Ive been busy with other stuff. The Ascend X is the most likely to be unlockable now, while the Triumph users will have to wait for MoTo to release the unlock patch and also the Telco Carrier to approve.

Have you got root yet, ive heard the gingerbreak works on the Froyo  bizzare as it didnt work on my Froyo.

Gingerbrake didn't work on the Assend X I had to use Rage with adb.

DONT press one of those huawei phones! wait.

I tried formating the SD Card and several different cards but didnt work, sorry i think i got the gingerbreak success mixed up with the MoTo Triumph, Gmash posted a link to YouTube where some guy did it. When i had Froyo i could only root using Rage exploit.

no idea ask MoTo when they will release their patch to unlock bootloaders then find out if your carrier will support the patch. Or better yet gid rid of the thing.

btw this thread is for the Ascend X which has already been successfully flashed with GingerBread 2.3.4

bad luck you picked the wrong X6 variant for modding

I now report success in installing clockworkmod on the Assend X Kaskus - The Largest Indonesian Community - View Single Post - [OFFICIAL LOUNGE] CSL Mi410 aka Mia (OEM by FOXCONN)
Directions: To boot in download mode, Hold down vol up button and hold the power button until you see a text. Next move the old recovery.img from image folder and replace with the one from the zip file above into image folder. Next pull out battery to reboot.

Reboot in recovery mode by holding down vol up/down and power until it boots into recovery mode with orange text. This can take up to 45 seconds keep holding the buttons. Use vol up/dn to select use power button to activate.
