10 Reasons Not To Buy An iPhone

Iphones are disgustingly expensive and if you want to do anything even remotely like the android (apart from download apps and change pre-existing settings) you will be jailbreaking the phone, a larger risk you're taking considering it's a higher priced phone.

You have no options, do you like SAMOLED displays or SLCD or anything else... well too bad, you get what apple gives you. Don't like the shape of the phone or button placement... too bad. Don't like the colour too bad.. oh no wait a few months they might release a white one.

Better question would be what's a reason to get the iphone 5. What can it do that an android can't.

Theres two things about the iphone 5 that arent rumors. Will not have an 8 megapixel camera and it will not be 4G. Also apple phones have already been overpriced.

So far we have

1. Overpriced
2. There are better cheaper phones with more functionality
3. Its from apple and thereforth is a product that can be regarded as a "conformist product"
4. No 4G
5. Poor camera/video capture quality
6. Poor speaker quality compared to other multimedia phones
7. Screen breaks if dropped on carpet (Ive dropped my caseless Droid X at theGym, at my School, and beside my pool and it still dosent have a scratch so yea quality second to none my ass)
8. Limited Memory

why don't you ever acknowledge the lack of quality control in android phones.
every htc android phone i ever used had the crappiest speaker/tinniest
speaker ever. the iphone 4 speaker is absolutely incredible.
if you don't like apple, that is fine, but get real about the quality of the
apple product. i know it hurts your feelings to tell the truth, but apples
quality is 2nd to none. now go onto battery life, android battery life, sucks!
iphone 4 battery life is incredible.
you can bash apple all you want, and that is your right, but you can't
bullshit a bullshitter. from the ipod to the iphone apple's stringent quality
control is incredible.
i find good things in android and good things in apple iphone. choice is
a great thing, just be honest when comparing.

I've compared the speaker of my Droid X to an iPhone 4 speaker playing the same song and it puts the iPhone 4 to shame. Next I suppose youll say apple makes quality headphones. Also the iPhone 4 retina display uses 30% of the phones battery. That said I like my 32gig 3rd gen jailbroken iTouch and it is a great mp3 player. But thats all it is good for.

I have excelent battery life on all of my phones.... my everyday phone MT4g last about 12 hours of heavy use.... it depends on how you use the phone even the apple battery will be horrible if you ran alot of apps and stuff... also app is a higher priced phone... look at the expensive android phones...

and can I remind you about the lovely DEATH GRIP on the iphone? What android have you heard having that lovely feature.... please let me know... I want to run out and get that phone :D

Android allows you to customize your phone... apple is locked down... have you ever seen a custom os for the iphone? Iphone you have to jailbreak it to be able to install non market apps whats the deal with that? Android all I have to do is fin a QR and scan it and it starts downloading without having to root....

Considering there is literally nothing confirmed about the iPhone '5', it's impossible to answer your question. Unless you count iOS5's new features, but probably all of it will be compatible w/iOS4. If you're interested in getting an iPhone, like another poster said, wait a couple of months and see what the '5' brings to the table.

And I'm slightly confused with the folks saying the iPhone is 'overpriced'...how so? I'd agree that it's ridiculous they are still $199/299 over a year after launch, but if they weren't still selling, the price would drop.

Other phones offer rebates and such that brings them down. You have limited functionality for more than a phone with more features. Primarily you pay about $100 extra for that little apple logo on the back. In other word you pay for the name. Also 2 words Limited Memoryl

don't like htc? no probs, choose from the thousands of other brands out there.

good thing to point out in these debates is it's stupid comparing android to iphone, android is an OS, iphone is a model of phone. You can't compare battery life of android to iphones because android doesn't have a battery, the phone it's installed on does. Android doesn't have bad quality control, it's the phone manufacturers that determine that.

You don't see apple releasing the iOS for other phone companies to install in their products. Not that I would want that anyway but that's just the typical feeling you get from apple.

Thanks. I love these types of threads comparing Android phones (still have yet to see one of these) and an iPhone. It's comical at best.

Im looking for 10 Good reasons why I shouldnt get an iPhone 5. Oh and as far as I'm concerned personal preference isnt a reason.
Personal preference is the only reason unless you're a fanboy or in marketing for a certain product. Selecting (or not selecting) a particular smartphone is all about finding the device that suits you best. The word "good" is highly subjective (meaning personal preference). This isn't a process with decisions that apply to everyone. You need to come up with your list rather than expecting to be told why you shouldn't. It's your responsibility to ensure that your particular needs/wants are met. Same goes for everyone else.

Now, if everyone had identical preferences and needs then lists like this would actually be useful. They're really just tired (they were tired LONG ago) old anti-iPhone rants.

Better question would be what's a reason to get the iphone 5. What can it do that an android can't.
Not really. That's also a highly subjective question. One person's shopping priorities may not have anything to do with "what one can do that the other can't". Again, don't assume that your preferences are universal. If they were, everyone would be using the device that you're using.

good thing to point out in these debates is it's stupid comparing android to iphone, android is an OS, iphone is a model of phone.
So compare iOS to Android. It's not a stupid comparison. Every smartphone is compared to the iPhone. Whether anyone in this thread gets it or not it is considered a standard in the industry and the constant iPhone comparisons only reinforce that.

If you think the iPhone is completely pointless then why constantly compare to the iPhone? Just leave it be, ignore it and let it die. Android doesn't need fanboy crusaders to succeed. It can definitely stand on its own.

You don't see apple releasing the iOS for other phone companies to install in their products. Not that I would want that anyway but that's just the typical feeling you get from apple.
And that's typically a major reason for Apple customers to buy Apple products. You get much tighter integration when your OEM is also the company actually developing the OS.

Every option has pros and cons. Ever person can have different needs/wants. Once you realize that you can emerge from your fanboy shells. You can be an Android fan without being an Android fanboy. Insisting that everyone should use the same mobile OS is just as ridiculous as insisting that everyone eat only the same type of food that you prefer or only drive the same model of car that you prefer or only like the same color that you prefer (or take you pick of any other example).

There's nothing wrong with saying "I don't like XXX because of 1, 2 and 3". Just realize that those are your preferences and not everyone else's as well.

5. Poor camera/video capture quality

This isn't really correct. The camera/video are pretty good on the iPhone4. That being said, I should mention that I have both an EVO, and an iPad 2. I use both extensively, but I prefer the Android OS by far. iOS seems kind of primitive to me when compared to Android, even after jailbreaking it. There is simply no temptation to extend further the iOS realm for me.

I'll be happy to compare iOS to android, that wasn't what was happening here though. In all these debates you see things like android's battery life sucks or other hardware related statements. I was pointing out that if you're going to compare android to the iphone, compare it to the iOS, if you want to compare one android based phone with the iphone, then pick the android based phone you're using for comparison.

If you think the iPhone is completely pointless then why constantly compare to the iPhone? Just leave it be, ignore it and let it die. Android doesn't need fanboy crusaders to succeed. It can definitely stand on its own.

Someone comes onto an android forum and asks for personal opinions on why not to get an iphone 5. So of course they are all opinions and ofcourse we're going to be comparing iphone to android based phones. Do I really have to say 'but that's just my opinion' after everything I say? If so, I'll put it as my signature.
