Droid 3 and email

I am about to buy the Droid 3 and am moving up from BB Curve 8330. I use my phone for business and have 3 emails and texting needs. I enjoy the fact that when I receive an email, my Blackberry alerts me to new email as well as new texts. Does the Droid 3 have any issues using my phone as I am used to?

The email app that comes preloaded on all Android devices allows unlimited accounts.

I find that the Droid 3 is great for typing and that you will have no problem firing off emails or text messages, as well as receiving them. You will get notifications for all emails and txt messages you receive almost immediately.

Any Android device will do that.

What types of email accounts are you using? Your Android experience may be quite different if you're relying on old pull (e.g. POP) accounts. There's no BIS equivalent in the Android world.

I'm not sure "issues" is the right word. Android is quite different from BB. One difference you'll notice is that Android devices don't have profiles like the BB. Some UI's and ROM's and apps offer profiles functionality but even so they don't offer completely centralized management of alerts (notifications in the Android world). You're stuck adjusting notification settings in each app. However, Android profiles do offer some control over things that BB profiles don't offer such as WiFi, Bluetooth, screen, etc.

Notifications are immediate. Email delivery, again, depends on the type of email account. Push accounts are immediate. Pull accounts are not.

One thing that is not so obvious - to search your e-mail, you have to have email open and press and hold the menu button. Then your keyboard pops up and you can just type to search.

Touchdown is another good app, that I found to be a bit more like the BB experience...but the native email app is now almost as good.
