Ok this is odd. I have not used GTALK for a while and went to look for it to chat with a friend and it is gone! I do not have my Droid 2 rooted. Did not delete it. Tried to DL the APK backup and install it and it failed to install. No error given, the application manager simply said "Failed To Install.

Phone info:
Droid 2 VERSION 2.2
Verizon 2.3.20.A995.VERIZON.EN.US
Kernal 2.6.32.9-
Build # VZW
ERI VERSION 5
PRL VERSION 52299

Can I just get my gtalk back please!!!

Check under your Market, menu button, my apps.

If not, redownload it and install it.

i realize it is always best to start at the simplest hopeful solution but let me assure you it isn't that simple.
It is not on my phone nor market anymore. By that I mean not on the phone as an app. Not my SD card as any file format or apk. Not installed as an application. Not backed up to my SD card and not found during any of multiple searches of the market or Google. Google shows it exists/existed but gives no option to download it.

I found an outside apk that failed to install with no errors other than ? Application failed to install" no reason given.

Its like Verizon pushed an update that no longer uses GTALK possibly to get people to go over on texting since chat does not go the sms route.

I would be happy to try an apk file you have to see if it works but for now gtalk that used to be installed and I also used to have the apk file backed up is completely gone.

Out of curiosity, I took a look. I still have Talk in my apps and it still works, but if I go to my apps in Market, I don't see it and if I search for it in Market I don't see it. Anyone else?

Rgds/Mark M.
Should you find it can you set it into a cloud service like dropbox so I can try it again. I DL one that looked valid with all the proper permissions and all but it refused to install.

Thanks for helping to solve this mystery!.

I still have it on my phone but don't see it in the market. If I look in the market from my PC I don't see it there either. I use Google Talk and would be sorry to see it go. I wonder if it has something to do with Google + rolling out?

I don't know how G+ would have anything to do with GTALK but who knows what Google is doing. Another user sent me the APK and it loaded and works just fine so at least I have it back now.
