Thinking about factory reset, what do I need to know?

I am aware that it will erase everything on the phone, and I haven't bought any apps or anything like that, so what is the worst that could happen? I am doing this because it has been acting strange..

With that case, you only have a new sign in at your Google account

EDIT: It is like you get your phone out of the box, only nothing at the SD card is cleared.
EDIT2: ... and a lot of people would say, do a battery remove before you start your resetted phone
