Root {ROM} Das bamf 3.0. V. 4.9

I want to try this, where can I find the recommended radio for it?

I used 627r, downloaded from XDA. It is the 7/8 update official radio. See this thread, it has the radio link: [ROM] Official 1.70.605.0 MR2 OTA Deodexed Rooted Busybox Mirrors Added :D - xda-developers (It also has the 7/8 update rooted ROM--not a bad thing to have if you want to go incognito or have a factory stable (?) ROM and keep root.)

I just flashed this about 10 minutes ago or so, seems pretty close to RC4...can't really find too many differences myself...seems stable though...super quick as well..

I thought you were on 4.9 already? Might be why we had some differences in experience.

Yeah I just flashed it tonight....I can't figure out why I keep getting the force closes that i keep getting, but aside from those its great...I used TiBu and all of my apps and data restored..any suggestions on what's causing my force close errors? Or is that just a bug and it happens to everyone who's running it

The whole team was fed up with the double standard at XDA.

Butch said XDA banned a developer for putting in his signature that he was a follower of Jesus Christ (he didn't say who the developer was). At the same time, another developer put the name of a rapist in the name of his kernel and that was okay with XDA.

Over the past several weeks, I've been hanging out in the BAMF threads on XDA, and I can vouch for the fact that it is a big cesspool of offensive, foul-mouthed flamers with an appetite for drama. Team BAMF was becoming increasingly annoyed with that, but when that particular developer got banned for actually saying something positive, well... you could say that was the last straw.

Only until recently, I've been a straight AOSP ROM-flasher and an avowed Sense-hater. BAMF 2.0 REMIX and 2.1 REMIX began to turn me around on that because they were so friggin beautiful ROMs and performed much better than stock Sense. But Sense 3.0 got me hooked. Each release is better than the previous one, and this one - 4.9 - is the smoothest yet. What can I say... Sense 3.0, BAMF-style, is simply WAY COOL what with the weather lockscreen and the whole carousel unlock animation and the weather animation immediately after that. I mean, just unlocking your phone is a friggin production! What's not to like??

Xda didn't like thatdudebutch having something religious in his signature. Then one thing lead to another.

Not to get off topic of the thread, but don't think it was thatdudebutch. HTCCLAY was banned from xda for having the religious signature, yet they let another member have a thread and kernel upgrade called "Rapist." Thats what noone understood so the team made the decision to leave, plus the bad attitudes and such on xda.

Not for nothing, but some of the attitudes on xda are a bit out of hand. Make one simple mistake and people like to jump down your throught quick and fast.

I'm still very much a noob with the Android scene as this is my first smartphone, so it sucks to try and ask everything without thinking i'm going to get flamed for asking.

NOW BACK ON TOPIC:

The newest release has been awesome. The preRC5 was amazing, but the new RC4.9 is lightening fast and very stable. From the inclings, looks like there will only be one more release from the "shooter" port, from what i've heard the awesome Bamf Team has a new base they are creating something else on. Can't wait.:D

Thank you for clarifying everything... that's how I understood everything that happened. But the drama didn't stop there. By all appearances, it seems that the ill-will between XDA and Team BAMF extended to bringing down the new BAMF forums. It's been up and down quite a bit since they debuted, but I think after this weekend they'll be online and stable. Butch tweeted that the new server is a TANK.

Yeah, I can't wait for what they release off the new base. This team has done some pretty amazing things with Shooter. I mean, it really shouldn't even be running on the TB at all, as the Shooter hardware is different, I'm told, than TB, which is why there are graphical alignment issues with some widgets.

Yeah, I knew the drama didn't stop there, but don't know for 100% who actually created all the problems with the new & amazing Bamf Forums and didn't want to place the blame on someone wrong. Didn't know if it was xda itself or just some idiots from there. Really sucks because not only did they try killing the forum, from what I understood, they attacked the newest members server as well.

Glad they made it thru though, as corny as it sounds, I haven't even tried any other Rom besides Bamf from the getgo of me rooting, and will have to buy whatever they do to continue with this Team.

Well, i'm pretty sure Ihtfp69 servers got killed with attacks as well as the Bamf Forums. Not 100% sure what happened, but along with him joining Bamf and leaving xda, I think a select few were pissed. Just babies if you ask me.

What upsets me is that these guys do this for free basically, taking up hours upon hours of their time for us. Sure they get some funds from us donating, but I'm sure its nothing to compensate all the hours of work.

i agree completely... seems alot of folks that get pissed off seem to think they are owed something.just because they got a phone and want roms for it

i think xda should have stepped up and done something about it. this is another reason that the juvenile, adolescent minded public should not be allowed to post in the developer section without some kind of control. i like having all the developers at least post up their links to their sites in one place. pretty soom were gonna have to go a bunch of different places to get the roms we want and its gonna be significantly more of a PITA .

developers threads get to 700+ pages and 9 out of 10 posts i read i think "really? you dont know that allready,or dont have the sense to ask it somewhere other than here?". its completely rediculous the things people post.over and over again cause their too lazy to search a lil.

I spent a fair amount of time on the GingerRemix 2.1 forum and my personal favorite became:

"Did you even read the very first post by the creator?"

The fragmenting may very well become an issue. XDA sort of provided a sort of security blanket--if it was on XDA it was legit. That will be gone if this fragmenting continues.

I have had a few issues with RC4.9 lately, but I think that my phone just is not cool with 1.9 GHz, lol. Once I back it off everything is smooth.

(Side note: I am less than impressed with Titanium Backup. It tries to do too much, and is more difficult to set up and get it to do what I want. I think I will try something else, or just go manual. Any recommendations?)

did you restore only apps+app data? or did you try and also restore system data?

if you restored system data, that prolly explains all your force closes.
Same thing happened to me without restoring system data. Solution was to update TiB in the market before you restore. Backup and restore versions must be the same or you can get FC all over the place.

I am thinking about just using app list or app list backup instead of the full fledged backup programs. They just keep a list of the apps you have installed so you can just click through them and re-install through the market. I guess if I was a hardcore phone gamer or something I would really need the data, but really, I think I would prefer a clean install from the market anyway. Swype is the only program I use that I would have to deal with, and it is not too hard--I just have the installer link in a file in my dropbox.

Just wanted to note a few issues with this Rom, my email app for hotmail will not hide the number of unread emails. I have a ton of them and have no intention of cleaning it out anytime soon. Previously on other roms I could just go into the app and it would go away. I don't care much for the email app at all as something about it bugs me not sure what. Also I could not get to recovery via volume down and power, it kept turning the phone back on rather then clockwork. I ended up having to go through rom manager to get to clockwork. Other then this I really liked the feel of the Rom. Gonna flash 1.8.6 remix for a few days and see how it goes.

Speaking of dropbox I just started using it. I was trying to get it work with phone to chrome but had no luck.I do see a practical use for dropbox though.Especially if your wiping your phone all the time.:)

I have been using dropbox for almost a year now. It is the bomb. Sugarsync is supposed to be really good, maybe even better (its upgrade plans are cheaper), but more stuff natively integrates with dropbox. I am not sure sugarsync can do in-app sign-ins (good dropbox integration does not require you to store dropbox login info with the app).

I just wish someone would make a camerasync app (from iOS) to automagically put all camera shapshots in dropbox instead of having to remember to send them manually. Have not found an android equivalent. (Edit: well, one that is rated higher than 2 stars, lol).

I am not sure what exactly I did to be honest...I do s full back up before I flash, and then I think I try and restore everything so maybe i messed up there...so i am supposed to leave the system stuff alone and only restore apps and data?
