Battery Issue-Possible Dealbreaker?

From what has been posted about the specs, I take it that the battery in the Optimus V actually lasts longer than the Triumph. This is a big concern to me because I'm not entirely satisfied with how long a charge lasts on the Optimus V. What is everyone's take on this issue?

Non issue for me I'm at a desk all day and can stay charged.
Or I can buy a spare battery for $25 a month I'm not complaining.

Which spec exactly, mA hour rating? There are many factors that affect talk or run-time. I wouldn't think you can make that assessment unless you used both devices under exactly the same circumstances.

1400 mAh battery vs 1500 mAh

I'd look at other factors, some components are more energy efficient, many high end smart phones don't have a 1500 mah batteries.

Yeah, with a 2nd-gen single-core Snapdragon processor, you'll go far on a small battery. When disregarding 4G, Thunderbolt users equipped with (basically) the same processor have nothing bad to say about longevity while exclusively on 3G.

It does kinda suck. I've made it about 18 hours on light use. With moderate use, it would struggle to make it to the charger at night... but still tweaking and learning.

Thanks fella's, thats pretty awesome news. Ill be coming from the evo, and i was kinda depressed about possibly downgrading in order to get the 25/month plan. Definitely feel better about this now!

I'm speculating the radio just might not be the greatest. My signal in my area is normally pretty strong, but even on wifi it seems to suck it down more than it *should*.

Things are looking a little better this time around. About 2:45 hrs off plug, 90% remaining. But that's been one 5 minute phone call, a few minutes of "tinkering", and the rest idle time.

Yep, my battery life sucks. Still tinkering with the settings, but not sure how much more I have to turn off until its no longer a smart phone any more. I just make sure I have a charger with me at all times. For $25 a month, its worth it.

I'm contrasting it to my original droid, and the battery life is "better"....
but I need to either charge my droid once a day, or swap in a spare battery.

...or better a higher cap batt... one of these days I'm going to have to check if it's a pseudo standard batt, and if it is there might already be a higher cap batt with the same dimensions and connections...

o.w. it'll have to be plan b, car charger, spare batt(and hopefully standalone charger)...

Kind of a bummer as at the end-of-the-day on the OV I was able, if needed, to get by 2d on one charge while I just know with the MT it'll be 1d and maybe a little the next if I forget to charge it...

This isn't a Triumph problem, it's a smartphone problem. All high end smartphones have crappy battery life. You can tweakhere or there, but at the end of the day, the simple fact is smartphone technology is improving a lot faster than battery technology.

Evo, thunderbolt, Incredible 1 & 2, every 1ghz smartphone out there with a big screen will have crappy battery life. The Optimus is much older, weaker hardware, that's why it get better battery life. The battery life on the Intercept is awesome.

Also, when people first get a phone, they usually are spending a lot of tim setting it up and playing wih it, which is going to chew through the battery also.

Well said. The first day with the Triumph, I drained the battery by 2pm (playing with it too much). The next few days, I used it "normally" and it's lasted all day.
