Help LG Optimus M Rebooting Issue

I'm sure you've all seen these threads floating around on the forums a handful of times prior to me posting this, but the Hell with it. I've searched for useful information, only to come up empty handed.

Why does the LG Optimus M (MetroPCS) freeze constantly, then reboot directly afterwards? It happens to me daily more frequently than it should (7-8 times a day).

Does anyone have any decent fixes other than the ones I've tried - I'll list everything I've done.

Will the impending Android 2.3 - Gingerbread - update fix or debug the frustrating issue?

Should I take it back before the grace period has overlapped, which is, I think 7 days for an exchange and 30 days at a corporate office for a refurbished trade out.

If I use a ROM other than the stock provided one, will my warranty or "grace period" be null and void?

Things I have tried, . . in vain:

  1. Remove the SD card, re-inserting it.
  2. Reformatting the SD card.
  3. Trying to check for updates using the Mobile Support, which would not recognize my phone. Surprised?
  4. Clearing the cache on the applications.
  5. Deleting unnecessary third-party applications.
  6. Using a different browser.

I won't perform a hard reset, as I'm sure that would do nothing but waste my time.

If you have any suggestions, leave a comment. I don't want "try other threads," because, I have.

I would take it back and try your luck at getting one that doesn't reboot. My optimus M does the same thing with rebooting. I have rooted and installed a new ROM but same problems so leads me to believe it is either a hardware processor issue or a firmware issue. Seems LG knows about it but doesn't really care to fix it.

Good luck with your next optimus..

I've been having this problem since I bought the phone in March. I guess I should have taken it back when I had the chance, but it wasn't quite as annoying at first. Not until it started freezing and rebooting about 7-10 times a day. My quick fixes... turned of all animations and the vibration on touch feature, bought memory booster pro app, and disabled background sync. It has helped bring the problem down to 2-3 freezes/shutdowns per day, but my 'smart' phone is now pretty boring without being able to use it the way it should be. I'm trying to be patient about this 2.3 update and praying it will fix the issue.

For some it has been a hardware issue, so Gingerbread will bring no relief. Some Metro stores, Authorized or Corporate, know of the problem and will sometimes replace it with little to no hassle. Others won't give a crap. Backup everything important to you (because their natural reaction is to Factory Reset first) and take it down there. Of course, make sure you re-enable everything so that it's crash happy again. If you can spare 7-10 business days, you can try getting it replaced through your LG warranty, but only if you fail at Metro.
