Gingerbread 2.3 was here, then gone, now it's back

Can we go lawyer and stipulate a few facts.

1. Incredible will get gingerbread.
2. Most likely in next 3 months
3. While it will be beneficial, it probably won't blow most people away.
4. People will complain despite it is our 2nd major.update and coming months after.EOL
5. Speculation can be numbing or entertaining. Your choice.

Now how about for kicks everyone picks a date and see who comes closest. I got July 11th

I have gotten confirmation that the original Incredible will be the next handset to be upgraded after the Incredible 2 update rollout is completed. I will provide the exact date as I did with the Incredible 2.

No offense but that article does not.say X2 is getting updates from VZW before.incredible.

Just says they will be testing an update.

If I'm not mistaken; Verizon does soak testing right before a full on release. Hence the X2 (under that assumption of course) would be next up.

cleaned a few posts up. since a certain someone is on a time-out i see NO reason to respond to him at all atm. Not too mention we all know we should be debating the issue and not the user

NOt to say there isn't a risk, but rooting could not be easier. I've done it twice now, and it is as easy as following like 5 steps and pressing a button. It literally takes like 10 minutes. Go for it...

Will an upgrade be pushed to me, or will I have to get it from HTC? Will checking for updates on the phone show when it's available? Thanks.

Possibly, but if soak testing had been done there would have been news about it.

I would assume verizon would push teh update to your phone. The check for update function on the phone is pretty useless as it will only give you an update available once the update has actually been pushed to the phone and this could be days even weeks after its first released.

I'm guessing my HTC Inc will let me know when there is an update to 2.3, if there ever is one...so...no need to put my life on hold and obsess about it...

It would seem to me that they wouldn't release a GB update for the Incredible. I get the feeling that Verizon is phasing out the handset and going to other devices like the Incredible 2, the Charge and even the Droid 3. I wouldn't expect them to put anything out, especially when no word from anyone official has been made regarding this actually taking place. Perhaps rooting is the only way if you want up int he updates ladder.
