Root [ROM] [R910] EXODUS 0.6 CWM or ADB script install

What I would like to see is something that is probably impossible... Talk while surf over 4g... ;-)

Wishfull thinking huh?

I just wanna see AAALL the things that this phone can do... i'll be stuck with it for a long time after hearing a tip from a friend at metro... (the rest of androids coming out for now wont have a physical keyboard) Why is that so important you ask? My fingers are too fat for touch screen only phones... i'd go crazy hitting buttons that i didnt want to touch... lol. With the extended batts an you guess doing rom work I now dont regret buying this phone.

Keep up the good work guys. Thanks.

I am new to rooting so I am a little confuses do I need to install the exodus 0.4 zip first then do the CWM version of Exodus 0.6: or dose the CWM version of Exodus 0.6: have booth and all I have to do is install it. Hey having fun learning all this though,it is very interesting and educational.

Especially if you are new just get the .6 (Non CWM version) and then install using the indulge.bat within the unzipped folder.

Once again thanks to Baysiderider I found yet another problem. This one was pretty obvious to, thankfully easily fixable. If you guys downloaded the CWM version, please re-download this version.

http://www.mosslakefun.com/files/ExodusCWM0.6.zip

Basically, my other one had a problem with superuser not working. Even though superuser was installed. Either case its fixed. I would highly recommend before using my rom to back up your stuff with Mybackup Root:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupRoot&feature=search_result

Then do a factory wipe, and install it. People keep telling me about some glitches they get, but in all honesty I'm guessing most of you guys all customize your phone how you want. Exodus ROM has the basics installed, and I assure you like it is, there shouldn't be any glitches. If you experience a glitch its because you didn't factory wipe before installing my rom. If your using the CWM, there's no need to wipe, but back up with my backup root, prior. K0 has recommended mybackup root personally, and says that TI (titanium backup) backup might give you guys glitches. Well enjoy :D.

Thanks Silvist and Texan (and others) for all the hard work... I wanted to express to y'all that I am on the edge of my chair, anticipating the release of 0.7... keep it up.

I got this phone with the intentions of using the USB Tethering app - with the ROM, wow.. I am looking forward to dropping my home service provider and just tethering off this 4g!!

I wouldnt recommend cancelling your home service. The tethering apps are great but you dont want to over do it. From what I have heard Metro can cut you off if they think you are abusing the service and I think using for your home internet could cause you to get flagged. Im not saying it would happen but that it could. That way if it does you cant say you werent warned ;)

Silvist, after about a week of testing I am still getting a lot less battery life with this version, some days cant even make it 5-6 hours of standby mood on an extended battery before I seem to have to charge. I tried the battery info wipe and that seemed to make it worse.

Also I noticed that my anycut to turn 4g doesnt work right with this version, I will turn it off and then look atmy phone say half an hour later and 4g will be running again.

Ive noticed better battery life since installing .3 and have done every update since then with no change. Its possible that you may have a bad battery or need to reset the stats (after doing a full charge). Also keep in mind this phone is known for sucking down batteries. You could always try an extended battery as well. There is a thread about them in the regular indulge forum.

If none of that is an option for you you can always go back to Odin.

First off this is a wonderful rom and props to the developer :D.
I didn't like the font tho it wasnt to my taste, but that was and easy fix.
The phone is running fine, i was wondering if there was a 4g/3g toggle on/off available.

Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with the beta version of the application itself or the Exodus mod, but I am unable to stream my library off the 4g network or wifi.
The app would display a constant loading icon in either connection type far too long for a simple mp3 file.
I am able to play local mp3's just fine.
I was also able to run this same version of the application on the stock rom of the indulge.

I know this isn't probably a priority, but i thought i would let you guys know to help in the development process.

Thanks so much for the rom. I've been looking for a cleaner way to run my phone.

Heyo everyone,

Like everyone else I was tired of not seeing any releases for the Samsung Indulge. In fact, just to root this phone, it took nearly 3 months after release. Thanks to our friends at ACS, K0nane, Shabby, Tanimn, and many others; we got root. Thanks to Mikestoolz, the creator of the Bloatware removal app, and one of the first people I met "day 1" of the release of the Samsung Indulge. Thanks to all you fellows at AF who have worked hard to find new things, and help others in regards to the Indulge.

Since then; we been toiling away with settings, apps, tethering, battery life, and 4G. But I'll cut the chat short, and get to the point. With a lot of help I was able to make a custom rom. Doesn't have much, and obviously need a lot of work, but its a start.

K0nane will probably release a rom soon that will blow mine away, but in the mean time to hold you guys over here's a little treat :D.

I. The Rom so far has the following:
Deodexed apks
PermRoot
Zipaligned
Bloatware removed

Without a custom kernel, and a custom recovery, not to much else that can be done for speed/tweaks. I'm looking to try to make it more visual, but at first I decided to keep it fast and simple. I tried to maximize the amount of free memory, and speed of the touch.

II. Instructions for Installing:

1. Please backup everything before attempting to do this.

2. First and for most before doing anything make sure you have the drivers:

Samsung

3. Make sure your phone is in debugging mode. To do this without your phone plugged into usb, settings>applications>development and then enable usb debugging. Then plug your phone in.

4. Download and extract all the files from the Exodus0.4.zip

Link is here: Exodus.zip

5. Then inside whatever folder you extract it to you'll see a file called Indulge.bat. Click on it, and you should see a dos looking like screen, hit enter, and it'll start running. I would not do anything to the computer your using to do this in the mean time. You will notice probably that your phone is having a lot of crashes, this is because the old files are being removed and the new files are being installed. When it finishes, it will automatically reboot your phone.

6. After your phone reboots, I would turn it off, and then do a factory wipe. (With the phone off hold R+PWR button to go to recovery, and select factory wipe). Then restart your phone, and enjoy :D.

There is still a couple known issues, I myself experienced gmail app not wanting to connect the internet whether I had 4g or Wifi. I would suggest if this happens to delete the app, or uninstall it with sdk app remover (also from the market) and redownload it from the market.

If you guys find anything else let me know. Again I tried to keep this as basic as possible. In the future I will probably try to add more tweaks, and alot more on the looks and interface of the phone. But for those who wanted some speed, and all the crap off the phone, here ya go :D.

Credits to:
T3xan my new fellow co-owner of the Rom, he's the graphics side :D
Aerei - for some bad ass backgrounds
All of ACS
Shabbypenguin (for helping me make my rom)
Markolo25 (for testing my rom)

Edits:

Version 0.4:
Removed a couple non working apks like Voodoo, added some new ones for better app and widget management.
Added some etc tweaks: (speed ups of): GPS, .nomedia. Adhost (blocking popups)
Unblocked package blocking

Version: 0.6
Removed browser.apk, and put in Dolphin HD along with bookmarks to sd
Added custom framework
Added custom font
Added custom wallpaper
Added custom Market
Where is version 0.6?

I was curious if it is possible to have google maps bundled into the new rom? no big deal, though I am wondering if within the 'contacts', more than having custom ringtones for different people, if it is possible to have custom message notifications for different contacts... I think more people text than talk now-a-days?

I can confirm the above. Great quality (though I was slightly asleep, looked HD to me on a Wi-Fi connection), ran without any skips, and the video played in landscape mode. Absolutely killer.

I love how fast everything runs on this ROM. I've yet to experience any hiccups while running any of my apps, which I can safely say was not the case with the stock ROM (not sure if that's the right term). :D
