Just got a Samsung Moment, looking to port Android 2.3 to it, or atleast a custom version of Froyo. I am just wondering, what are the possible ways to brick the phone? Can you brick the bootloader by loading a custom rom? What I mean is, can you brick the phone completely where you are not able to just erase the memory and flash another rom?

What are the most common causes of complete unrecoverable bricks?

Thanks

yeah, that's pretty much it.
but all of that can typically be fixed if you have a clean rom, like dj07, swupdate, and the computer still recognizes the phone when you plug it in, and you can get it to load to the update screen.
just install the new rom with swupdate and all should be well.

you said 2.3?! interesting... care to share some details?

My phone won't connect to my computer anymore bc there are no drivers anymore...and the rooting sucks, it fc's all the time and I had no signal for hours today and often have to restart several times to get a signal. Is this fixable???
Not really the proper thread to ask this, but anyway...

You said there are no drivers any more. Do you mean your computer doesn't see the phone when plugged in via usb? If so, make sure usb debugging (MENU-Settings-Applications-Development) isn't checked and try again. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling anything Samsung from your computer. You can download a program called usbdeview and use it to remove all Samsung drivers, too. Then try to connect via usb. Windows should automatically install the needed usb drivers.

To reinstall DJ07 on your computer, go to sdx forums (hopefully this link still works, copy/paste from another thread here, I can't get to sdx from work)
[HOW TO] Get Deodexed Rooted Stock DJ07 & BEYOND!

Hopefully this link still works, this is a copy/paste from another thread here, since I can't get to sdx from this work computer. If not, it should be in the Samsung Moment 2.1 section. Get the deodexed DJ07 tar, 3.1.1 Recovery, and Samsung updater and install.
