So many users have been using Rom Manager and are getting stuck at the Lg Logo. Well now there`s a way to unbrick your phone and avoid the need of a replacement.

To get your phone to be recognized by the PC; take your battery out. With the battery out press and hold this combination of keys: Back key + Camera. With the keys hold down plug in your charger to the phone. (AC connected to the wall or connected to USB) Your phone should boot to S/W Upgrade mode. Now the battery can be placed back again. If you got to S/W Upgrade mode by the AC charger method now its time to connect phone to the PC.

Now make sure that LGNPST and drivers are installed on your pc correctly. (Go here if you need to install LGNPST and drivers. Follow the guide until where you need to open LGNPST.

Then Open up LGNPST and make sure that the program recognizes the phone. It should be under the EMERGENCY tab. (Dont worry if is says UNKNOWN under Model).

Now Select the dll file. The file name is MS690.dll where it says dll.
Then Download this file extract the folders somewhere on your PC. While on LGNPST navigate to the extracted Bin folder and select it as the .bin file. The file name should be MS690ZV7_08.bin

Then click start. Let the process get to 100%

Now your phone will try to start up but the battery will blink or charge. If it`s blinking all you have to do is: plug it to the wall let it charge a little bit, then turn it on. If it charges then let it charge a little and then turn it on.

Your phone will be back to stock mode to 2.2.2. And also unbricked.

Hope this helps.

PS Thanks to sammyz for the 2.2.2 link.

Hi,
I am new to this forum, and really hope someone can help.
My son has bricked his phone trying to root it and has given up trying to fix it.
It's now on my computer table.
He has a new baby and really needs a phone.
I followed your post and actually have gotten further than I had been able to with any other postings I've tried to follow.
It all goes well until I try to attach the DLL file. Nothing shows in the list and it doesn't seem to have a way that I can find to attach it.

I downloaded the drivers and it said they loaded properly.
The dll stated it registers.
The bin allows selection and attaches properly.
The phone shows as an unknown model/port connected.

Do you have any idea what I maybe doing wrong with the dll?
I've never tried to work on phones before so I'm quite lost.
It is a metroPCS lgms690 Optimus M.
I would appreciate any advice.

I'm not quite sure how I bricked my phone...I was in the process of doing a recovery on my phone but somehow after the rebooting step the phone gets stuck at the LG logo and then goes into a black screen.

I've followed joneidy's thread about unbricking it, but I get stuck at S/W Upgrade mode when I try to switch it to my PC. It shuts off when I switch my cable so I can't even connect it to my PC before then. Please, any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hey guys I've also bricked my phone from trying to reboot after doing a recovery image...

My phone gets stuck at the black screen after the LG logo but my main issue with this tutorial is that when I switch over to connect to my PC after S/W Upgrade Mode it dies before I can even connect to my PC. What should I do? Thank you!

once the phone dies completely, have someone hold a button or 2 for you, since its a nightmare holding all the buttons down...once all the buttons are held down, plug it straight into a wall charger.then let it charge for a minute, then disconnect from charger and right away, plug into your pc.hopefully this helps.

Your method sucessfully unbricked my phone. Thank you ;)

But now I have a new problem. I have no service. It's not connecting to Metro PCS anymore (roaming works) I tried calling metropcs to "reprogram" my phone, but the Service Code they provided gave an error "wrong code" they had no idea why, and couldn't help me..

EDIT: Joneidy told me to try using all zero's for the service code and it seems to be working. :D

"programmed" phone successfully, but still no service. :(
