Loose Back Cover?

I may be finding fault with the tiniest thing here, but at the end of the day my S2 is a wonderful phone, and so the slightest drop from its high standards can be a little annoying!

Does anybody else find that the back cover is just a tiny bit loose between the camera and the power button - ie the left side if you are looking at the back?

It's hardly perceptable, but if you press gently on that side, there's a little bit of give and a slight click... one of those things that once you've noticed it is annoying!

Is it just mine, or are they all like that?

I've been looking a little more carefully, and I think the movement is down to the clips...

There are three small clips along that side, all towards the top end. The top one of these (about level with the camera) looks slightly different to the other two - it goes down perpendidular to the cover as they do, but then does not have a "hook" sticking out away from the cover as they do.

Is that normal?

I've tried to take a photo but it doesn't really come out... will try again later when I'm not at work!

I may go compare to one in a shop (if any shops have them in yet) - not sure how best to go about getting replaced if it's wrong (I bought from a website... would it be them / Network / Samsung?).

When I first took the battery cover off it gave the impression of being an incredibly flimsy crappy bit of plastic, but I quickly realised that it is not.

My cover fits like a glove and once in place is absolutely firm and feels like an integral part of the phone.

Are you absolutely sure you have clicked all the tabs into place properly?

Yep - I'm pretty sure it's down to the missing flange* on that clip, which means that corner cannot properly clip into place.
Will try and get that photo so that those of you with nothing better to do with your time can compar to your own.

*I don't know if it actually a flange - probably not. I just like using the word.

Right, here we go... not quite the close ups I was hoping for, but they show the point...

Here are the three clips sticking down away form the cover, into the phone... all good:

But if you lay the cover flat, you can see that the flange does not protrude away from the cover as the other two do, meaning it does not clip into the phone properly, but instead remains loose:

Anybody else's look like this?

I checked and no it doesn't. All three are exactly the same on my phone's back cover.

Did you damage yours or did it come like this? I suspect your diagnosis is correct so depending on the answer to that last question, you need to buy a new one or complain to whoever sold you the phone - it shouldn't look like that.

Right, problem solved, lesson in persistence learned...

dodgycheapphones.com, who I got it from, would only replace the whole phone, and even then I had to send it away to tehm for inspection etc.

So I went to the big T-Mobile on the high street, where the bloke didn't wan to know and told me to get teh supplier to replace it.

So I went to the smaller T-mobile in the nice part of town, where the very nice man went and got their demo model, let me try the cover off that on my phone and then said "keep which ever cover you want".

If you're ever needing a T-Mobile shop in Manchester, go to the one on St Anne's square!

I've got a slight bulge in the lower left back cover, down below the power button area. I'm not sure if the nubs are slightly damage or what exactly is causing the issue, but the cover won't got completely flush in that spot. This is causing the cover to feel a little loose, and there are cracking-type noises when I squeeze or press in certain places.

Talking with BestBuy about getting a replacement right now.
