5.If I root/ROM my phone, and a new version is released (for example 2.1) by Sprint, how can I get it?
a.If a new version is released by Sprint and you are rooted, the only way to get it is to restore to factory defaults and then upgrade to the new version. After that you can re-root your phone. However, keep in mind that by the time a new version is released by Sprint, the Devs of the custom ROM you are running will likely have an update out already to take you to the new version.

there's also a partially functional 2.1 ROM over at XDA if you feel like flashing it..
just because 2.1 is released at android.com doesn't mean that it works on all android phones. there are drivers that need to be compiled into the kernel to make it work with the hardware it's on. this is the hold up for getting 2.1 fully functional at the moment..just give them time and it'll be ready.. possibly before Sprint or HTC releases it..
