Importing music from a memory card

i'd say nothing. music player should automatically scan ur sd card (external and internal) and add ur music automatically. i assume u created a folder called music etc. and dragged ur stuff in there, right? and ur files are in mp3? it should read pretty much any music format.. the media scanner runs after u insert ur sd card?

I had my entire music library on a memory card that used to be in my old mobile. After inserting the card into my Galaxy S II, I can't seem to get Music player to recognize the files and play them.

What am I doing wrong?

After you put in the memory card and switch the phone on, do you get a message on the top of the screen saying "scanning for media" or something along those lines?

Installed winamp, still nothing showing up except the few that I have on my phone.

Music is contained in the folder /sdcard/external_sd/music

I wonder if it is not recognising it because of the external_sd card part? Unlikely I know, since this is clearly something the galaxy itself defines, seeing as it has the internal sd card built in?

Yes. Problem has been solved for me.

I re-formatted the SD card and created a folder called "Music" on the SD card. I did a copy&paste of my files from my computer music library and put them on the card.

When I put the card in my phone the "Scanning for media" message appeared and music library is now working fully.

Thanks for the help here. Hopefully this post will help anyone else having the same problems. :)
