Currently running latest Gingerbread (android 2.3.4) leak on build EP1H and finding it to be VERY VERY solid!

Anyone else running it yet?

Links were posted by p3droid on Droidlife and can be found/downloaded HERE!

It can be installed using Odin using basic instructions found HERE.

I have 2 questions regarding this new leak.

1 Is a wipe reset required to install this or can you flash and still have your current files and settings.

2 is this leak pre-rooted? If not, is there a way to root it?

Everything about this leak has been covered except these 2 things.

Thanks....

As greenmunky said, you can try titanium backup to back everything up (I personally prefer a clean install).

Prerooted. It is NOT deodexed though (easy enough to do yourself if you want).

A few things I have noticed so far...(running the debloated leak)

Pros:
-Better battery life
-Smoother, no jittering like on the official stock 2.2

Cons:
-Streaming music is a problem. I have only tested Pandora, but it cuts off, halfway through a song. Google music streams fine with no cut offs.
-Ambient light sensor seems to not function, I have to keep my brightness all of the way up for when i go outside.

Other than that I haven't checked GPS functionality at all. Seems to be very close to final.

So i attempted the Flash without doing a wipe/reset, and looks like the system erased all my settings on its own.

And it does appear to be pre-rooted.

As for the guy referring to the Ambient sensor...
I had a Droid X prior, and after accepting the Stock GB from verizon, the ambient sensor was whacked out, and so was the lighting for the 4 physical buttons on the phone, they were 100% brightness all the time. Google has messed up somewhere with Gingerbread code.

GPS tested with Google maps, works properly.

I haven't found time to flash it yet, but it sounds like the radios (4g/3g service) has been improved.

Hey Kelmar,

I'm am completely new to this whole Android thing besides rooting a Pandigital reader. Since this deals with my phone, I am more worried about messing it up. Does installing the leaked firmware void your warranty even if you install the Verizon version with the bloatware? I didn't want to mess up my phone since I was waiting for the Bionic to come out and I can exchange my phone for that if I wanted. Thanks.

I am currently running it and I like it. It is very smooth and has some nice new features like the keyboard. I have had no lagging issues and the browser works great.

Granted there is no overclocking yet or additional kernels but its an early release. I will continue to use this until GC 2.0 with imoseyon 13.6 comes out.

+1 on all the PROs,

I dont use auto adjust so I dont care about that, the only issue I have seen so far is Gmail is not being automatically being pushed, I have to go into the app and hit refresh.

Im running the leaked gingerbread..i love my phone now.. Really fast.. Less frequent force closed apps.. Especially when i ran the spb 3d shell.. Runs smooth now..honestly.. I don't have any issues.. Ran quadrant scores up to 1500.. Using pro launcher .. I highly recommend this root setup

1500 seems a lil low to be honest. Im 1700 ish with out any overclocking. Are you on a etx4 file system?

When I was on 1.9.1, I was 1750's with imoseyon's 13.3, 2200 OC'd to 1400.
I can't wait till the full version comes out. Loving it so far.

Gummycharge 2.0 with imoseyon 13.6 FTW... the wait is killer.

Since it's not an officially released build and is still considered "in testing" I would likely void your warranty.

Shoot any Root voids warranty.
