How to do the airplane mode fix?

So I just noticed that I have the bug that tricks my phone into thinking that there is no signal or whatever!:p Anyway, I checked the "cell standby" option in the battery usage and I saw that the time I had without signal was 95%! I heard it should be around 50%? How do I do the airplane mode fix and how do I know it worked? Thanks.

Right after you boot up your phone throw it into aiirplane mode for about 30 seconds and the go back to normal. Then check you tws(time without signal) after a few hours, it should be reduced for you hopefully. Unfortunately you have to do this with every reboot if it works for you.

Thanks much!:) Wow that is real annoying, why has Sprint/Samsung not fixed this bug yet since I heard many people have it?

Yeah, I'm tired of this bug too. I'm sure that Gingerbread won't fix this bug either. This phone is simply craptastic.

Wow, you're in every thread, with nothing constructive. You act like no other phone has any issues.

maybe if you posted descriptions in detail of your troubles the community could help you resolve them.

Or maybe an iphone is right for you. With the erroneous miss reported signal strength, and dropped call grip of death.

It would be easier for google if they didn't have to work around a million patents they could get sued for infringing upon. That might be why custom roms seem to fix what should be resolved easily with updates.

Just my opinion.

No need to get nasty, OK? I'd never get an iPhone. I really don't like it. I've played with iPhones that friends own and I really don't see what the hype is all about.

Yes, all phones have their issues. The Epics that I've owned have had major issues. I have asked about how to fix the issues I have in several different forums including Sprint's forums. I've called Sprint many times to get resolution to the many issues I've had with my Epics with very little success.

I don't mean to "dis" anyone's favorite phone.

I do believe that the fact that they haven't fixed this issue with 50% time without signal that has been with the Epic since launch is a major fail on Samsung and Sprint's part. You shouldn't have to do a trick to save your battery every time you turn on your phone.

A $600 phone should have better support and a resolution to some of the issues that have plagued it since launch. This issue is still with the Epic. It's present on my second Epic. That's frustrating.

I've struggled with trying to get everything fixed on both Epics and the result has been that both have ended up with major issues. I guess it's bad luck because others seem not to have as many issues and they love their Epics. I wanted to like this phone. My experience has been extremely negative with the Epic, so for me this is a phone that has bad memories associated with it. I will be upgrading to an entirely different phone by a different manufacturer. Apparently my luck with Samsung isn't good. Your mileage may vary, and apparently it does. Cheers.

On the flip side, if you dont take charge to fix the things that are broke whos fault is it really? The community as a whole has come together and made this phone a whole lot more than what samsprint could ever do. And if you decide not to go that route that choice is entirely yours. You have options. I am on my third epic, my first one froze up overnight the very first night i had it. My second one "died" a week later because of the iqd thing. Both of those were withing the first month of launch. My phone now had issues too but i decided to correct them myself and not count on samsprint to do it for me. This phone has its flaws but i would not trade it for anything else that is out there right now or whats on the near horizon. Doesn't matter what phone you buy now days there are going to be issues. Its all about getting the phone to market asap to maximize profit with little regards to much else. And we are dumb enough to fall into their trap. We get that you are frustrated but please stop disrupting threads where people are trying to get answers to help with their issues.
