While I was playing around in the guts of my Superpad I though about a mod I did for an Xbox where I made a cable that extended the pinheader to the outsied of the case. That way I could quick swap mod chips to test them without having to keep a case laying open.

I found a spot where I think I can mount a microsd cable to the case and run it into the slot on the inside of the tablet. That way I could have different flavors of roms loaded on different sd and swap them out to play around, rather than having to reflash over and over.

But, does anyone know if there is any kind of degradation of data through a cable? I would assume not and were are only talking 3 0r 4 inches here but I thought someone might know.

I think someone posted a picture of a tf slot extender a while ago on one of these fora.. it looked like a tf card with a ribbon cable out the back which was terminated at the other end in another tf card holder.

Yeah I have used the cables before. But usually they are used for GPS where the GPS is built into the dash and they us the cable to place the slot in a driver friendly spot.

My concern is that there may be an issue with data over the cable when using it as system disk in a tablet versus just pulling data from a map file. There really shouldn't be, but I was just wondering if anybody had heard of any limitations.

I wanted to ask before going through the hassle it will be to get one. I have only seen them from overseas suppliers and they usally require 100+ pieces. Although I could use the "I'm interested but could I get a sample?" ploy......

While I couldn't back it up with hard data my gut feeling would be you wouldn't have a problem, its only a matter of a few inches and there are no sources of strong RFI in there.
Definitely try the development sample route... I'll have a look on RS and Farnell

Couldn't find anything there. The closest was a tf socket & pcb with solder pads
