An App to control a DSLR camera?

For iPhone and iPod touch users there is an app that can be used to be able to turn their device into a wireless remote control to trigger the camera to snap a picture. Just wondering if anything like that is available for the Droid. BTW, I have a Nikon D90.

It could be as simple as a timed shutter release using a USB cable - for doing time lapse etc. It doesn't have to be a full control app, although it could grow into that.

Although some initial reading around the interweb suggests that USB host mode (which would be required) is difficult on Android due to the underlying Linux implementation.

i came up with this method while trying to find a remote shutter app for my motorola defy to be used to control a nikon d50, but it can be used with other cameras, as long as you have the right software. this does require the camera be connected to a computer, so it isn't really wireless, but it does give you control over the camera settings. first off, you will need an android app that gives you the ability to remotely control a computer, of which there are several (i tried and like PC Remote Controller, priced at $4.99, but there may well be better apps than this). install the app to the phone, install the server software to the computer, and install a camera control utility to your pc (i did this using Nikon's Camera Control 2, but any similar program suited to your camera should operate just fine). after installation and hardware setup (basically, plug the camera in to the computer) start the remote app on both the phone and the computer and establish a connection. from there start the camera control utility either using the phone or just walk to the computer. since the phone can now control the computer, and the computer can control the camera, you essentially have your remote with the ability to alter camera setting. since i am using a D50, i do not know for certain that you could also get a live preview via the phone, but i believe that you should be able to. if anyone is interested, i will answer that question in a couple of days when my new Nikon D5000 arrives. Not a perfect setup, but still it should do the trick.

Yeah I did it!
1) You need IR emitter (make from 2 infrared leds and audio jack).
2) Download this app: market.android.com/details?id=com.zokama.androlirc
3) Go here: lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/and find your device
for example nikon - lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/nikon/ML-L3
Download this file and move file on SD card.
4) Start androlirc, and declare path to file on SD card. (such as /sdcard/nikon.conf) and press save.
5) select this profile and goto "Edit keymap", select some "key" and uncheck button disabled, then select some option from "Action/command" (for my nikon d5100 i used "shutter").
Try this on your camera!

P.S.
Thats work on many devices, TV, video players and etc... Configs u can find on this site lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/ or google ;)

P.P.S. sorry for my bad english.

I came across this thread when looking for something to control the wifes Canon DSLR. Remote your cam lite looked worth a try, but with the problems with andriod market, I cannot for the life of me download it.
I will not buy the pro version till I have tried the lite version. Why can't I get the lite version form somewhere else instead of the market!
