I'm looking at switching from VZW to Sprint. I'm running into a few bumps that are making me think I shouldn't do it. Can anyone clarify if these are indeed correct?

I want to get the HTC EVO 3D but they're telling me it is $400 not including $125 for porting over my number. The reason being I would be getting a plan with a discount and the $200 deal is for a plan w/out a discount.

They also dropped our discount from 20% down to 13%, does this happen often?

I've also been told that if the phone has issues Sprint charges you $35 to warranty it in the store. Albeit, you can mail it to HTC for term days at no cost. Does this sound correct?

Thanks for the help people!

The EVO 3D is $200 at Sprint corporate stores, regardless of discount %, unless you are on employee plan. I would go to another store.

Yes, if you don't have TEP insurance on your account any service in store will cost $35 even within the warranty period. The actual warranty is through the manufacturer, not Sprint. Sprint offers this service to save you on downtime, the $35 covers their cost for technicians, parts, and/or shipping. Sprint is the only carrier that offers a real in-store repair option of the 3 major nationwide carriers. If you don't want to carry TEP on your phone or pay the $35 within the warranty period you are free to handle the warranty through the actual manufacturer just like you would with the purchase and warranty of any other product on the retail market.

I thought Sprint stopped the $125 port credit a while ago.

I would agree with all of this. However, the LCD screen on my friends phone went out the other day, the phone is about 14 months old, and she took it into a Sprint repair center, and they put a new screen on it for free, on the spot, without charging anything. Seems like Sprint is usually pretty good about taking care of ya. If you ever have problems, just drive to a different store, eventually you'll get what you want. lol

I get a 70% discount with all major carriers and never, ever heard that. Ever.

You can add a corporate discount to any time. In fact, they actually refuse to add my discount in store. They always tell me to enter it online, because it is quicker then them doing it. If they refuse to sell you the new plan price, get the phone and add the discount later.

Go here and make sure it is sprint that is offering you the discount.

Sprint | Employer Discounts: Submit Email

When you get the email back it will tell you how to add the discount to your account.

She probably had TEP or ESRP coverage on her account. The $35 charge is only for those without the coverage.:)
