Help Please insert an SD card...or, what did a 3 year old do to my EVO???

So my EVO was working fine. Was visiting a friend and her 3 year old was looking at the pictures I have stored on the phone. She was swiping around the screen and then when I took the phone back and went to look at the pictures I got the "Please insert an SD card" message. I tried turning the phone off and on...even removed the SD card and put it back in...but every time the phone fails to recognize a card is installed. When I connect the EVO to my pc I no longer get the mount as drive option either. What did she do? lol

go into settings/sd and phone storage/is your card mounted or unmounted? if it is unmounted then just mount your card and you should be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. When I go into settings/sd I see the following:

SD card

Total space
Unavailable

Available space
Unavailable

Mount SD card
Insert an SD card for mounting

Erase SD card
Erases all date on the phone's SD card, such as music and photos

The last two items (Mount SD card and Erase SD card) are grayed out.

I've powered the phone off and on a few times. Even took the SD card out and reset it a couple times too. Every time I turn the phone back on it says "preparing SD card" for a second during boot up (after the home screen appears) but then I get a notification at the top saying "SD card unexpectedly removed...Unmount SD card before removing to avoid data..."

It's really quite odd.

i would get a card reader and see what the deal is. you might have a bad card. or take in to sprint and see what the tech says.

I went the card reader route. Definitely some corrupt data on the SD card. There's one photo in the DCIM folder that has a file size of 0 bytes...and I can't delete it. lol Plus, the pc continually detects the card over and over...with the window popping up each time asking me what I want to do (view the contents in a folder, etc.) Fortunately I was able to get all the pics and videos off the card...so perhaps I'll just need a new one. Is the SD card covered by Sprint? Just a month or two back I got a replacement phone because my original EVO kept rebooting itself. Just wondering if this will cost me as well. Thanks.

copy the cards content or whatever you want to save and in your pgone re-format the card and see if that helps. then transfer everything back to the card. and that is a good question on sd card coverage with sprint. not sure on that one.

As far as the SD card I would think that Sprint would only cover that if provided by them if however the card was provided by HTC then you may need to contact them. I took out my original 8 gig and replaced it with a 16 gig. The Card that came with my HTC was from Samsung.
