iPad talk!

Yeah, outside of being an e-Reader and having a bigger screen, what exactly does this bring to the table that the iPod Touch hasn't already?

I see it as a much better replacement to a laptop than a netbook. Yes, not that much memory. But i think it is designed for people who are always on the move between classes, work, etc. Not for having all of your data on it.

Yea.. quite blah.. I just don't see it changing the whole tablet industry. Now if it had a TV service than ya I can see how it would give many future tablets a run for their money. And where's the camera? I mentioned in another thread that it would have been cool if they had added a camera on the front and back.. sorta like a "See me and see what I'm seeing" type of thing.

If it was available for $200 or so bucks, I still wouldn't get it. But you have to admit that it's a really cool device. Aside from a bigger screen, it seems to basically be an iPod Touch. And the better processor and RAM and all that jazz, but Apple had the right idea with the Touch/iPhone, but this tablet looks just like the aforementioned. It's not like the jump from the classic iPods to the iPhones, which was drastic and revolutionary.

But, to each his own, Apple fans will love it and buy it. $1000 is a bit too much for a tablet. I still don't quite get the point of tablets either. I thought netbooks had it down, being a step down from notebooks and a step up from smartphones (in terms of productivity, not the whole phone part, although Skype could be an option). The tablet seems to be a redundancy and while people will buy it, do you really need the touch screen to view an ebook? What's wrong with a laptop for books, movies, and web-browsing? 3G? Buy a 3G card.

Well, it's got a 1Ghz processor, so it's significantly faster than the most of the rest of the crowd. And it's not much more expensive than a kindle, but it can do a lot more (how many ebook readers have full word processing, or let you play racing simulators?)

Also, for those of us who left the iPhone for the greener pastures of Android, access to all of the apps we paid for (or downloaded for free) and then abandoned.

Also, I'm no Apple fanboy, but you have to give it to them; their products are usually very well-made, easy-to-use, and just have a certain panache that other comparable gadgets don't.

The iPad isn't revolutionary, but that doesn't mean it's not cool.

Even if I freaking hate the name.

Said Jlopcpa and pushed play on his iTouch...

LOL....

No iTouch for me...I drank the M$ kool-aid a long time ago, that is until Android set me free!!!!

Actually this is not a bad device in all, but I dont think it will have the mass appeal that the iPhone and iTouch have.

I dont think it will be an effective laptop replacement, so it is caught between the iPhone and Laptops, which in theory limits it right off the bat. I dont think it will have much value in the corporate world, outside some specific applications.

All that said, back to my original post Apple seems to have a strong following and people (like my wife) will want it just because of that.

Yeah, I posted in another thread the fact that multitasking was excluded from this device makes me think it's not going to be on the new iPhone 4g either. Plus...the "iPad"? Really? I wonder how absorbent it is. $830 for a 64gig iPad with a 3g radio...the price is outrageous. Steve Jobs said the netbook wasn't innovative but I definitely argue that the netbook is tons more useful than this "Honey I Blew up the iPhone".

They should have, at the very least, put it on a carrier that isn't already struggling from an overloaded network.

Dear god...

Exactly. It is for people who on the go and who do not like to fiddle with the device. Any tablet no matter what os. Is going to be niche. It is in my opinion better than a netbook. Apple has a strong liberal art following. This is one area that will like this. I also like the reasonable pay as you. Go plans.15 for 250mb or 30 for unlimited.

Right now I am typing on a laggy as hell hero. Google needs to step It up.
