Gingerbread fix any of the problems?

Anybody gotten Gingerbread yet? Phandroid is reporting its available: Gingerbread Update for DROID X2 Owners Is Now Available from Verizon.

Would love to hear whether it fixes lag/pops/massive other problems the DX2 has.

Thanks.

Nice find. For me I hope it's the reception issue. I have never had problems at my house except with HTC phones and even the TB had better reception here than this X2. I can't believe I sold my original X. Some people (me) are just stupid. I just tried and no luck on the update for me in West Michigan.

I did a manual update via the xda developers link to the file.

The phone does feel much more responsive no home screen lag anymore. Audio pauses/glitches seem greatly reduced. With 2.2 I would get audio glitches even when I was not multitasking. With GB I only get very minor glitches when multitasking and none when not.

Keep in mind I have only had GB installed for a few hours. With froyo it seemed like audio issues were less common immediately after rebooting.

With the audio glitches do you mean on phone calls or music? Do you have reception issues? If so, did they make any changes to the band that you noticed in the update?

Sorry for being vague. All the audio issues I had previously were related to music playback through the amazon mp3 player, the default music application on a few other music Apps. There would be noticeable pauses and skips especially while multitasking.

I have never had any issues with call quality or reception. For both call quality and reception the X2 has been as good or better than my original droid and my wife's fascinate.

Not for me. GPS still flashing in menu bar after exiting yelp/maps/nav.

LPP was really smooth before GB, but getting screen redraws/lag now.

really disappointed so far. battery doesn't seem much better either. It's not like the drastic improvement I saw in GB for the DX1
Seems pretty common on XDA forum that people need a battery pull or even factory reset after the update to get the full GB joy. FYI. Also, *228 is almost a universal requirement to get full 3G signal/performance.

OP, GB fixes the lag issues and the phone runs much smoother. It's an extremely fast phone. Hell, I can't prove it, but I think they improved the screen somehow. It looks better (to me).

I'm still getting pops and skips listening to music, which is completely unacceptable. If you like listening to music on your phone, I would steer away from the Droid X2. This was probably the last update this phone will get, so Motorola is obviously not interested in fixing this problem, or the can't fix it.

Exactly. I'm listening to Pandora right now and trying to do anything else with the phone results in the same skips, pops and dropouts that I had under Froyo.

I think you're right and this will be the last official update from Moto. Like many Android devices, it'll be forgotten once the new models come out and it'll be up to the devs to bring us any more updates.

I'm actually thinking about getting rid of this. I was playing with the Dinc 2 and it was extremely fast, much faster than the X2, but I've read about reception problems with that device.

Really, there's not much else on Verizon right now.

I am also having issues with the pop in the phone but it's during audio book playbook (I am a road warrior). I am also noticing it on phone conversations so I'm wondering if it's the phone and I have a bad egg. I have also had random reboots for no reason 3 times today and think I might need to go back to Froyo or might need to buy back my original X (what was I thinking)? :)

MP3 audio pops are still happening after the update. Since it happens a lot more during multi-tasking, it made sense it had something to do with free ram.

Beginning to wonder if it is a circuit isolation issue and interference is causing it. Since the DX1 does not have the issue, it would seem to make sense the DX2 would not, but they do have very different chipsets. Perhaps Motorola missed something during circuit and line etching design. Could be some spiking happening due to weak line filtering.

If the lag is gone since the GB update, so should the audio pops, IF the ram was the issue in the first place. If a circuit design problem, there is no direct way of fixing it, short of a design rev change for production.

nope. still getting random reboots.

Also, new problem: no 3g. Getting a triangle in the menu bar. Can only fix with a reboot.

Also, got a bootloop one time. Rebooted, got to the eye, then got stuck and rebooted again. Never had that before.

Mine reboots randomly now as well. Also, use phone as alarm, woke up late to a all black screen. Would not turn on at all, three battery pulls and finally it came on. Verizon said it just may have needed to re-set because of the update . I love the phone, just want the update to work right. Keyboard freezes now as well. Have to power cell off and then clear data.

Now my first replacement did this. It would take two or three battery pulls before it would snap out of it but then it would freeze again.

My second replacement, which I currently still have, performed the update and I haven't had any problems since.
