Help NC screen freakouts?

From time to time my NC screen will just start zooming in/out, scrolling up/down, and selecting items completely randomly, even when I am not touching the screen at all. Locking and unlocking will usually fix it, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced these freakouts and/or has a fix. Details on my set up are in my sig.

I have done both. Screen recalibrate will keep it from happening for a day or so, but that's it. I would say it occurs about once per hour of use, on average. Quite frustrating, especially when it sets website images as the background or fills an emails with gibberish and sends in the middle of me typing. In fact, it is trying to fill this reply with random w's, s's and d's right now.

Wanted to add that I just cleaned the screen, ran touch recalibrate, and rebooted but still got a feakout almost immediately. They seem to be getting much worse recently.

Are you overclocking?

I'd boot into recovery and clear cache and Dalvik cache (advanced menu) and fix permissions.

If that doesn't work, reflash or update your bios. CM7 Nightly #136 seems the most popular. You can download it from Rom Manager. The overclock kernel is merged with newer builds.

Not charging, overclocked to 1200 on the stock CM7.1.0 RC1 kernel with nook color tweaks. I will try wiping dalvik and fixing permissions, hopefully that will help. I really don't want to do a full wipe.

I hate full wipes and they don't always work.

But, if you did have to wipe, you could create a recovery backup, then wipe and if it didn't work, restore your backup.

That exact charger issue also occurs with my OG Droid and thunderbolt so I am used to it, lol.

Dalvik wipe and fix permissions seemed to work, but it has only been an hour or so. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I've had that happen, and it usually occurs by touching too large an area of the screen at once. After that, it will no longer register touch correctly, and phantom touches occur as you describe. Turning the screen off and then back on fixes it.

This also occurs if I turn on the screen with a large conductive item very near the screen, like if it turns on accidentaly with muy cover closed after a cleaning; the chemical residue on the inside cover is enough to mess up the screen until it air dries completely. As before, turning off and on fixes this issue for me.

I've also made a discovery regarding the phantom touch issue when plugged in to power, more on that coming today.

Working much better today, but it has still happened twice since this morning. I honestly think it has alot to do with humidity at this point. Sitting in a beach front hotel at Myrtle Beach the screen gets a film on it much quicker than when I am home. Add sweaty fingers and the freakouts are pretty frequent. Lock, wipe the screen, unlock seems to fix it MOST of the time. Yesterday was out of the norm as no amount of cleaning seemed to help though.

To clarify an earlier post, the charger induced freakouts only occur with non-oem chargers. This is the case when trying to use my old blackberry charger or car charger with my nook, thunderbolt, and Droid.

I initially figured that was the culprit but got concerned yesterday when no amount of cleaning would make it stop. I think it is time to get a screen protector and see if that helps.

I've got one on mine, but don't have the humidity or heat that you have. (Mine stays indoors )
