Looks like March...

I like how they say it has been "pushed back" when nobody ever said it would really be before March. I also like the fact that some sites are saying 2.0 in March and others are saying 2.1 in March while using the same Irish carrier as the source. And really, they couldn't find a better source than an Irish carrier? The guy was probably drunk when he made the statement. :D My family is Irish, btw.

Fact is that this doesn't fall outside the time line that Verizon originally stated. They said 2.x by end of Quarter 1 2010. Q1 ends on March 31st. The speculations that I and others have made don't really change that time frame.

I agree...Q1 has been the promise and any other date has been pure speculation really. If the release is March, then no one should be surprised. In fact, I think January rumors pretty much came about because of a Verizon document with bugs and targeted fix dates. January 22nd was one of the target dates so I suppose people assumed that 2.x would be released on or around that date. Rumors got even more heated when a maintenance release was sent out in early January.

Still waiting for that last set of bug fixes before 2.x. At least they should still release them because until March I want a well working phone.

Is it assumed that the hero and the eris would get the upgrade at the same time? Definitely an HTC thing at not a network thing? I'm just curious because the salesman at verizon all but promised me if I bought the eris I'd have turn by turn "practically yesterday." Of course he didn't know anything--just trying to make a sale...

Well, we can't even say you were duped since VZW employees don't know anything either. I was told by a very good friend that's all into gadgets, that the Eris would get it sometime in January as well.

You got a quality phone at a good price and the VZW employee was probably going off of what he had heard himself. Getting duped would have been him making you buy the Droid and then the Eris if you backed down.

Just be patient. The news doesn't quite assuage me since it's for the Hero on another carrier in another country, but I'll roll with this date. If it comes earlier, I wont be let down (that's what she said), and if it's in March like it's speculated to be, then I'll have nothing to complain about.

Something tells me we'll get an OTA or two before then, which will make our phones flawless (fixing reception, lag, and YouTube issues) and then 2.1 comes out and it'll suck and we'll be miserable. Yeah. I'm singing a different tune now. I'd rather get a root than 2.1 anyways.

March 31st = 63 days away!!!

Scary thought: What if Quarter 1 doesn't end on March 31st? Some companies don't start their fiscal calendars on Jan 1st. What if Verizon meant it would be in their first fiscal quarter? That could mean the date could be pushed back to as late as May.

Nevermind, I just found out that Verizon's fiscal years end on New Years Eve.

I was getting really anxious when I saw the 1/22 date but now that it passed and it didn't come I don't seem to care that much.. I'll get it when I get it, adn when I do it will be a nice surprise when I wake up to the update and my day will be slightly happier haha

There's no point in worrying about it, it will happen when it happens.. Wanting it more and worrying about it won't make it come any faster

Don't mistake me being okay with 1.5 as being thrilled, I am very excited by 2.0 as a developer and a user. But I'll take fewer updates as long as they actually ADD something to the phone, you know?

We've gotten...three OTA bug fixes and we still have problems. When 2.1 comes around, I feel we'll be back to square-one with problems, as programs will lag and whatnot.

Our Eris's are really underpowered and built on ancient technology, it won't handle 2.1 the way the Droid and N1 do, however, if we can get a root and are able to overclock to a safe extent, then a root may be more important for Eris users than 2.1 since it will probably fix some lagging issues and responsiveness.
