Optimus V reviews on VM site

I've had my Optimus V for about four months now. I felt that I could give an honest review of the device on the VM website. It seems that there's an abundance of 4- and 5-star reviews there, which I find curious since it's really not a 4- or 5-star device compared to other Android phones available from other carriers.

I composed what I thought was a pretty honest review, titled it "You get what you pay for," and rated the phone 3 stars. The review had positive, negative, and neutral points.

My review was rejected by VM for "not meeting the guidelines for posting on the site." There was nothing more specific along with the rejection notice except they encouraged me to "review the review and resubmit it."

So my question is: Do they typically reject less-than-favorable reviews and mostly post 4- and 5-star? That's what it seems from browsing the site.

Anyone else had a not-so-positive review rejected?

I'm not sure how they handle reviews...

But I wouldn't rate the phone a 3 because you're comparing it to other phones on other carriers. When the OV came out, it was probably the best phone on any prepaid carrier. Given what it was for, it was/is a 4-5 star phone.

I guess they have the right to kill bad reviews, but I guess that means they don't believe in the 1st amendment. Personally I would rate it a 4, but that's only because VM phones are all I have used. I would rate the Intercept a 3. I really can not find anything about it that's not good to great. I do wish it had a larger screen, but that can't really be a negative since the screen quality is very good. Most of my peeves have more to do with the network, not really a phone thing. You might post what you wrote here, so then not only VM can pick it apart...

The reason for the 4 and 5 star reviews are that it was until the triumph came out the best phone for prepaid. It was a steal to get a true android device with unlimited data, and no contract. For 25 bucks a month (now 35). I would rate it 4 stars myself as it's usability soars when it is rooted.

Were you mentioning other carriers in the review? That would be my guess for the rejection. Plus rate the phone itself, mentioning other phones that are not available on VM doesn't do much for someone interested in the phone...you'd be better comparing the phone to the Triumph.

Personally I think the phone is 4 considering the plan and the cost of the phone now...one of the best bang for buck phones on the market right now.

Yes I agree if you were comparing the V to other network phones and rated it poorly because of it they probably killed your review. My review is on page 291 of their site.

Thanks for your comments. I'll have to see if I can resurrect what I wrote because I didn't save a copy of it. Maybe VM has it on their site for editing? I haven't checked yet.

When I rated it three stars I must have been having a good day. There isn't a day goes by that I don't want to chuck this device into a fire somewhere. I don't know what apps people are running or what I've perhaps done wrong in setting up my phone, but I can't run jack on it and find myself deleting apps every week to free up space for its most basic functions to work. Then others claim they have tons of programs installed and no issues. So I really am at my wits end. I'm considering moving up to the new phone and selling this one.

I posted a scathing review of the device about a week after I got it because VM took that long to figure out the problem with data access (which took 3 different calls to level 3 support and multiple account provisionings before they finally found the trouble). I guess my review had more to do with a very bad first impression and less to do with the actual device.

Now that I've had 3G data for around 10 days, I can say reception isn't great (I have to go outside when I'm at work) but it's a pretty nice phone for the price + $35 plan.

I just submitted my review of the Op V over on the VM site. Kind of hard to miss the review guidelines sitting there right in your face before you begin typing.

I was at my wit's end too. I hated my Optimus V, then I decided it was root it or trash it. So root it I did. Once I did that I tried Link2SD and couldn't get it to work. So I went with App2SD, this was a huge help, however it doesn't move the entire app to uSD. A good sized chunk stays in the internal memory, many times it is more than what is moved.

Finally I decided I had to give Link2SD a try again. I got it to work flawlessly and wrote a tutorial to get it working.

I currently have 187 (plus 11 the phone sees as non-moveable) apps on my phone and am hovering around 50 megs of free space. I rarely clear my cache unless I open one of my apps that has a cache cleaner.

I love this phone now. I have been looking at the Triumph, but that is because I really want to run Firefox. But for now the OpV is fine for me.

Mac - I've had some major technology fails this week. I want to try rooting the Optimus some day, but not today. I don't trust myself with technology right now. lol

Virgin Mobile is a corporate entity, not the US government. The first amendment has nothing to do with it.

I'm not rooted and I have like 80 apps, including Netflix and CoPilot which are 10+ meg apiece on the internal memory, and a custom launcher. I have 40 meg free at the moment, with all apps on SD that can be without rooting and that don't need to be on internal for widgets to run.

I run a cache cleaner periodically, that gets me lots of space back.
