Okay so I have tested and it seems that whenever someone sends me a text message and it was sent to multiple people, when I reply it sends it to all of those people and not just to the person who text me..for example, my brother sends a picture to myself and his girlfriend, I receive the picture and when I reply it send it to both my brother and his girlfriend..and I don't even have her on my contacts? I have tested it and I believe its a handcent PROBLEM...has it happened to anyone else?

EDIT: so this means that it is exposing the phone #s of the people whom the messages were sent to...seems like a privacy issue..a BIG one

I vaguely remember something in the update notes in the past update or two about Handcent and messaging multiple people.. I'd skim the update notes and see if it was a change they made and a setting that can be reverted if you don't like it.

To me the privacy issue is from the original sender who is sending it to multiple people. Having received a message there should be no way for you to know who else it was sent to.

Also does this only happen for media messaging? I have seen that a when sending mms. The multiple recipients are visible to each person

This happens in both mms ans sms..I emailed handcent , ill see what they say..but I will have to make sure I don't reply to 10 people at once that I don't even know. I wonder if its just on D3?

It's not just Handcent. It happens in the stock text messaging app as well. It's definitely a Droid 3 issue.

And it's not the only texting issue I experienced with the Droid 3. After sending someone a MMS, the conversation with that person would be split into two threads - one for my outgoing messages to them and one for their incoming messages to me. Very annoying.

Same thing happens to me on handcent, droid 3, verizon. Luckily I caught it before I unknowingly sent a smart a## reply to ALL the people. I just isolated the individual I wanted to reply to and sent my reply to him. Kind of annoying but i am used to it now and pay close attention to all texting so as to avoid making mistakes sending to wrong recipients.
Barbara-----you use gosms? Is this an app in the market? Reason why you like it better than handcent? Maybe I'll check it out for myself and see if I like it as well.

It is an app in the market and it is free. It has the same features as handcent but I liked the look a little better.

i'm sure someone said this already, but it has nothing to do with handcent or any of the sms apps, i use sms popup and it does the same thing and it even did it before i installed it... its the stock messaging app for the phone that does that. it will still do it if you uninstall handcent. complain to android/verizon, not the app developers.

btw... it aggravates me too. especially when you try to reply to a person who sent a group message. you end up replying to everyone... how stupid. i do NOT like that feature.

Well, here's my 2 cents.... It is definitely a problem in the stock messaging app.... to get around the Send to All function, you can long press on the picture that you received and down at the bottom of the options that came up is Reply to Sender <---- this will send only to the sender and not all.....

Also - in the messaging apps messeging settings page, if you UNcheck the Thread group conversations, it will put your reply into the SMS thread of each person you reply to..... It really bugs me that when a MMS comes in that it doesn't show up IN the senders thread if there is more than one recipient..... it starts its own group thread..... <------ that SUCKS
