Do you think the eris is hiding it's true colors?

so many of us wonder why we have a only white boring trackball on the HTC eris

goog guy at the HTC nexus presser said it had multi color

but the phone shipped, and they have only white too

well wtfbbqsauce?

found this interesting

http://androidforums.com/nexus-one/39640-trackball-colors.html#post298504

a rooted nexus DOES have multi color, so it inherently, natively, with no HW mods DOES have color...

who wants to bet when we get root we have color trackballs?

If the trackball LED is multi-colored, and rooting (or 2.1, or any eventual update) unleashes that, I hope it brings with it an option to completely disable the other LED next to the speaker and allow the trackball to serve as the sole notification light. Having two notification LEDs on the face of the phone is one of the design quirks of this phone that really irks my inner obsessive-compulsive.

The boring normal LED seems utterly superfluous when you have another LED that is approximately twelve thousand times cooler, because it is placed behind a translucent trackball.

I totally agree......and what bugs me even more is that there seems to be no standard on what can and can't use the LED vs the trackball.

well i doubt it would be more battery. light is light whether it is white, blue, green, red, etc....right?

True, but currently it just kinda fades on and off.

I seriously doubt that if we get a colored ball that people will just have it fade on and off. I for one would want it to flash as bright as possible and look like I'm in a night club.

I mean, if I have a colored ball, I want the whole world to see and know that my ball has colors.
