Where the wild things are
What is with this phones battery? Its horrible. I have juicedefender installed for today and it hasn't shown any improvements. I haven't used it much at all.

My top battery drains are cell standby with 30% and idle with 20%, display with 18% and android system with 15% and after that's there's like 3 apps with 2% each.. Is there something I'm missing?

really? That's weird. My stand by time is great with the D3. Is there anything weird going on with your data connection? Did you turn off the global capabilities?

Nope, I have most things on the minimal usage and I have the global capabilities off.

@Petries So basically your saying no matter what my battery is going to continue to drain at this horrible rate?

Look for offending apps.

Widget locker drained my battery 15% in 30 minutes after a fresh factory reset.
Google+ with instant upload enabled will drain it very fast (2.53min off charger and 30% battery left).

I went through installing only 1 app at a time and found those two offenders. Now i get through a moderate activity day(8h) with 70% left. My coworker just got his yesterday and after a overnight charge has been off for 28 hours and still had 30% left.

I don't have any apps in my battery use but ill check it out, thanks.

I don't think the battery usage list is very accurate. You can play a game for an extended period of time and most times it won't accurately show how much power it actually used. I'm wondering if the dual-cores are interfering with proper power usage detection, almost as if there was a bug where one of the cores wasn't being accounted for in the usage.

It may be the apps you have, that are running in the background. My phone can be fully charged at 9pm i can go to sleep and when i wake up it would have the same percentage. stand-bye time on my phone is great for me.

The only apps I have that run in standy besides the bloatware that comes with the phone is aquapets and beautiful widgets. Beautiful widgets is set to refresh every hour so that's not it.

One member who was having similar issues went back to the VZW store and swapped out his battery. He/She said that it seemed to have fixed the problem. So maybe it's a battery issue rather than a phone issue. It's worth a shot.

I'm on vacation now so I'll have to do so when I return, until then I'll look for some solutions to this problem and post any I find here. Thanks for the help :)

Something no one is mentioning is that the cpu is idling at 600mhz as per elixr? Idling that high might be why there is so much battery being used when nothing is going on. (idle & stand by)
On my other rooted phones I always kept set cpu minimums at 245 to 300mhz for good battery life & idle/stand by were always further down the list
Just my guess :)

Fwiw, mine's stock, untouched with the notable exception of ADW and a weather app (static wallpaper, as well).

My usage is "average," I guess: 20 or so texts per day, about the same number of short phone calls coming and going, a few emails, about an hour browsing (I have a Galaxy Tab for that) and just a bit of fooling around with it during the day. At the end of the day it's nearly always at about 60%. It's been less and it's been more.

What it sounds like to me is I have a faulty battery

Another less than thrilling update. I plugged my droid into the charger last night or so I thought. So when I went to unplug it from the charger this morning it wouldn't turn on and I was worried. Turns out it had 0% battery. So my droid was either not charging on the charger which is weird or it went from about the 70% charge I had last night to the 0% charge it was this morning after about 9 hours of doing absolutely nothing.
I'm more than positive I have a faulty battery.

This has happened to a few people, where the phone even says it is charging but it is actually discharging. I'm pretty sure Moto needs to address a charging problem on this phone.

Glad I saw this thread. I called VZW yesterday because in the last few days my phone has only lasted a few hours. Fully charged over night, and by 11 am this morning, it was down to 30% on the battery. This was with one phone call. That's it. Charged it up again when we went out this afternoon, came home and after going to 3 websites, it was down to 15%.

I think I'll stop at VZW tomorrow and see about a new battery. The first week and a half I had the phone, I was really impressed with the battery life, so I wonder if my battery is bad now.
