Improved Moto Blur? Or whateva they're calling it now...

That and proof that Blur slows down the device. All I read are complaints that it is slow when it is simply an aggregate, not an app that resides on the O.S. If that was provided then the complaint would be validated.

The complaints are validated here by virtue of the fact that people have a right to their opinions without falling under attack.

I'm a Sense fan, but would feel well-served by Blur or modern TouchWiz.

That said, anyone running vanilla CM7 will attest that on any phone, vendor-integrated packages are by design a richer software stack - and take more resources to run.

So, the opinion is valid just because it's an opinion, and in this case, the facts are not in dispute.

That said, the issue for most people is that running a vendor-rich software stack, especially with the new features found in the Photon's version of Blur, is quite a treat and they can access those capabilities without the work and expense of add-ons, right out of the box.

The whole point of an advanced phone is to run as rich an environment as your heart desires.

You like Blur? Fabulous, many do. Please don't complain about people stating their contrary preferences. That's noise and this is Android, where choice is good.

Your free to send me a private message on any questions you have, there's no need to debate the issue here.

Huh? Are you saying we're not allowed to discuss the pros / cons of Blur here? I don't understand your directive.

I've used every form of UI out there, and value other's opinions regarding this UI. This is the kind of info that is a factor in choosing a device to purchase.

Yes, please discuss at length and please be excellent to one another where differences of opinion happen. Two people can use the same thing but in two different (sometimes nonobvious) ways and come to opposing, but equally valid, conclusions.

Blur is an aggregate, not a software stack running on the OS. I have preformed hours of testing on this devise and have data to back my point. So to blame it for lag issues is an uneducated opinion, simple as that.

Just to prove this point...Blur widgets are still available for use when you switch to an alternate launcher, ie LPP. I'm working with cannibalized combination of Blur & LPP right now.

I believe Motorola did include one of those (I'm using LaunchProPlus now).

However, there are quite a few free options from the Android Market as well.

Ive tried different ones from the app store but none of them were a true on off, most usually took me to the settings and then had to change it myself. Some of them take me to data settings where on the EVO you cant switch the 3G on and off. Ill check to see if the P4G has it when I look at one tomorrow.

Seems some are actually enjoying the new trimmed down Blur. (Comes loaded on the Droid3)
[Q] Hating Motoblur. What can I do? - xda-developers

Guess we'll hafta share our likes / dislikes...

Anyone getting the Photon early care to comment with your opinions?

I don't care for the launcher. Went straight to LauncherPro.

I also don't like this version of the Gallery. I prefer the previous version, the one that was on the Droid X. The only thing I don't like is that there's no "browse by folder" option, so I can restrict my gallery browsing to one folder.

So basically, I'm back to... just give us Stock Android, please.
