i recently went from Stock 2.2 to Serenity Via the instructions on the Website.

it loaded ok, but im having 2 issues that i cant seem to figure out

1. the home button is not working

2. i have no 3g? i keep getting browser errors and no websites will load!

im wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

i used odin3 to flash per the instructions. i think i still need to Root it as S7 doesnt auto do that. and i need to install clockworkmod still.

would S7's new 2.0 Kernal fix these issues (the package uses 1.1 rework)

UPDATE: i read that i need to change my modem from the S7 package to something else? and beyond the Websites instructions, i need to run something from my SDcard with rom manager (but i already have 2.3.3)

another update:

i do think i did! i followed the websites directions! i just installed Update #2 and #3. i now have a S7 bootscreen. the phone is now rooted also. i have internet now!

but the home button still doesnt work!

AARG if i can get the home button working im in the gold!

Hey!

Quick question (s):

1. I just flashed S7 and LOVING IT, I want to change modems though. I want KC1, should I use the gingerbread version or the froyo version. I'm asking because i'm on CWM 2.5.X so I don't know which to use... and I can use the I9000 right...?
Use the Gingerbread version for the Captivate.

2. How do I update the modem from within CWM?
Put the modem in the root of your internal sd card. Boot into recovery with the extended power menu, install from zip file, navigate to the file and flash it. Easy peasy!

Thanks again :D
You're welcome :)

When you say "use the gingerbread version for the captivate" what do you mean? I'm planning on getting it from here: [Modems] - (Froyo & Gingerbread) - WCDMA 850 enabled - xda-developers

But it says it's for the I-9000.

Thank you!

I was running the stock modem that comes with S7 for 2 days (JV6) and actually worked pretty well with me. I decided to flask JL2 however as i've heard great things about it and it's native to Bell Canada (my carrier) so win win.

Is battery life significantly reduced with certain modems? When I mean significant i'm talking over an hour!

I'm new to this new community but I'm loving it!

Sounds like you didn't flash the ROM. You have to do two flashes, first the Gingerbread bootloaders, which you seem to have done successfully, then you flash the actual ROM - from the big DOWNLOAD link at the center of the page.

the serendipity .zip you downloaded from xda is the .zip you install from cwm. you dont unzip it, leave it as it is. and make sure you are in cwm recovery and not the standard recovery

sorry bud, cannt find in xda., is it posible to post a link please. i have downloaded already Serendipity_VII_Build_2.zip but not getting update strait from it.
please help

Download - Serendipity VII

he included the steps as well. there is a one click method to get to stock gingerbread but you will need to flash a kernel as well so its probably easier if youve never done it to just follow his instructions

it should be wherever you placed it, dont put it in any folders or anything, the .zip files usually are at the bottom of the list once you select "apply .zip from sd card" or whatever it says
