Not specifically, I'm just finding something to talk about OTHER than a certain member's recent post (as there has been a history of this thread getting off the rails after/because of him).
But if you are rooted, are you planning on trying out the official update?

I for one am planning on trying it out (I'm curious about the new Sense).

I unrooted the other day.. problems with my rom and i managed to do something while rooted, so i flashed 2.2 back on it...

But I plan on trying it out, see if I like it.. Then ill decide if I wanna reroot...

I hope its at least sense 2.0, but I have my doubts...
If no, then if I do reroot, its Sense 3.0 for me.. :)

Though he may have managed to throw the train off the tracks, we got it back on... But again, I'll still take any info, its better than nothing at all..?

I know a lot of people are rooted...are you planning on trying out the official update when it comes available (either by unrooting, or waiting for a rom), or are you planning on sticking with your rom?

Well I've never rooted but am planning on it after I check out the official and we get some good Roms based off of it.

Really want to see newer versions of sense

I have been following this thread for a while and the only thing I care about is the Baseband that could come from an official release of Gingerbread for the Dinc. If the Radio brings even better reception than the one I am using then I will flash it. Other than that, I don't care to bash anyone or anything; including the mysterious Evan. Who cares what he says. Seriously...I rock Gingerbread every day. The forum is about having the ultimate Android Experience, not some OTA the devs will debloat anyway.

Daps to my man Blackbelt.

Well an estimated date or confirmed date is better than NONE...
Though he made a mistake, he did have the right date for the INC2 upgrade which makes him a liable source.. all he did was just a misunderstanding of the phone his manager was talking about... I'll take August 8th...

No, he didn't give a confirmed date. What he did was;

-predict every Monday (except the 4th of July), because those are the days VZW traditionally rolls out an update
-He was wrong the first 2 weeks, the 4th of July was the third week, then he was "right" on the 4th week, but wrong phone.
-He never claimed that the update was for the Incredible 2, even gave us the build number of the original Incredible (after we gave it to him)

It makes sense for him to predict 8/8 as the next update day. If it would be 8/1, the PDF would already be on the VZW website. The Incredible is one of the next phones in VZW's que, so 8/8 makes sense. If it doesn't land, he can make up a delay and predict the 15th or 22nd.

So, please don't get sucked in by this guy. He's not an insider and has refused every request to vet him.

After the Evo 4G lost root with their update, I won't be even.considering the update. I will wait for the devs to port.it. I am going to try out boot manager so I can play with Nils Sense 3.0.

With bootmanager I most likely run with 4 gingerbread Tom's. 2 sense. 2 asop.

No.matter what you think about Evan, you have to.love the tenacity.

It will be interesting to see his post on the Monday the Inc update actually rolls out.

"See guys; I told you the update was coming! Now you all know I really DO work for Verizon!"

Hello this is Evan from Verizon Wireless NRB,

I have gotten confirmation yesterday of the original Droid Incredible update and it will launch on 8/8. This is a reliable confirmation and the same source that confirmed the Incredible 2 update which was correct and weeks prior to anyone knowing on the internet.

I will miss this thread if he is right. After many long days at work I would come home and see all of the madness in this thread. It always makes me giggle like a little school girl... I mean boy.

BTW, Post 1000!!.. (for the thread, not me personally)

Don't forget one of the reasons it got "delayed" was because there were "issues updating devices that were on 2.1".... The Inc 2 never HAD 2.1...
Hello this is Evan from Verizon Wireless NRB,

There needs to be some clarification about the Incredible 2. The general public and some of the members here have no knowledge on how the OS is developed on these devices. When the Incredible 2 was under development 2.1 was still the most popular android OS and was used as a base OS during hardware testing. Eventually it moved to 2.2 Froyo and was finally released with 2.2 Froyo at launch.

Yes, there were plenty of Incredible 2 test/development units at Verizon that still ran 2.1 and the small issue needed to be resolved before 2.3 was deployed.

I can understand the general publics reasoning that the Incredible 2 never had 2.1 installed since it launched with 2.2 Froyo. But this reasoning is simply incorrect.

I can buy that. Now what about build date as you have been asked. You have said you can get it. Please do.

I have not rooted yet either. Since the GB update is supposed to be the last update for the original Incredible, I will probably root after this update comes out.

That was what I was thinking BUT then I realized that I could root now, play for however long and then when I get bored I can go to GB and start again.
