Which Phone would you get today - Verizon

Good Morning-

Yesterday was an incredibly crappy day for me. Culminating in the likely loss of my second Droid X.

Somehow I qualify for an early upgrade, so at least one thing is going right. I know these usually become available to me right before some really awesome phone comes out, and I will be ineligible then. I can't think about the great phone coming out next month, seize the day if you will.

Normally I plan pretty carefully for a phone upgrade. I think about it for months in advance. I was salivating at the Thunderbolt a few months ago, and tried to talk my old man into buying it, but he went with an iPhone.

I am not adverse to a non-Android phone. Windows phones are even somewhat attractive to me, because I work with a lot of Microsoft employees, and they seem to be the only people I know who have Windows phones. We own a few Apple devices as well, and they are fun, but I like having a device that is hard for my small child or my non-techy other half to use.

I know this question is asked a lot, but this is specific to today July 31st, because from what I can tell, I will not be eligible for this upgrade after today.

What phone would you get, and why?

I have done tons of research. I had it narrowed down to the HTC Incredible 2 or the Droid Charge. I went with the Charge. I am trying to root the phone, and have heard great things about them once they are rooted. Not too thrilled with it at the moment not rooted. It's making me wish I'd gone with the Inc2.

My duaghter has a Revolution she's had for barely a month and has already had to get another due to some issues. Now the second one is doing the same thing. won't send text messages, turn off, will send a few and then does it again.

Anyway, if you are willing to root the phone, I'd say the Charge. If not, I'd go with the Inc2.

I was too much of a sissy to root my droid x, the charge seems cool, but I think I might just stomach the bb for a couple weeks and see what is going on with the other 4g phones.
LOL, I am a sissy too, BUT, the lag is driving me nuts, so I wish I could root. Can't get odin to download. I know it's a setting on my computer, but can't figure out what the probem is. I have uninstalled ALL the antivirus, firewalls, etc I can find and the page still won't load.

I have insurance, but spending the deductible isn't attractive to me, also, I replaced my droid x because of water damage a few months ago.

I am onder the impression LTE is working ok here, but I will talk to some of the guys at work tomorrow.

I was looking at the Droid 3 yesterday, it actually seemed ok. I really liked my droid x a lot.

When I got my bb, I wasn't the primary account holder, but they sent me a promotional offer to upgrade. Now I realize this upgrade is just an early one, and I have to pay an extra twenty bucks.

I can't find my bb, so I pulled out my centro, might be going to get that droid 3 on my lunch tomorrow. Ugh.

My biggest problem with the Droid 3 is the bogo offer, it makes me think they can't sell them.

The price of a phone doesn't necessarily indicate if the phone is good or not. You really do have to do some research of your own and not base it on a BOGO deal or something similar. And based on your posts, it seems like you are looking for a good deal so if there's one and you really want to upgrade...I would suggest that you don't pass up on it.

The best deals right now at VZW corporate stores (the only place that will honor early upgrades) would be the Dinc2 or the Droid 3. You get a lot for $200 and below.

Wow TurtleGrrl! We must be kindred spirits or something. I too dropped my droid in a puddle yesterday. We had a huge rain storm and it was on my lap in the car. When I got out it fell in a puddle and I did not realize it until I came out of the store and got back to my car and saw it sitting there. Sucks huh? I had the original Motorola Droid. I have to say that phone held up better than any phone I have ever owned. It was starting to get laggy there at the end but I could not crack or scratch that screen if my life depended on it! I too am now using an old BB and God it sucks!

So now I too am in the market for a new phone. I would like to have 4G but I am hearing mixed things on the battery life. I hear the Thunderbolt can't make it through half a day. So here is what I want an lets see if any of you have a suggestion.

4G
dual core processor
lots of memory
720p video camera and high megapixel digital camera.
Front cam would be a plus but not a deal breaker.
I have liked Motorolas and HTCs in the past.

So All that said what should I get thats not gonna give me hell. I don't mind rooting my phone if I have to. I am on XDA Developers enough. But something that works well out of the box would be nice. Suggestions?

EDIT:
Just did some more research and the Droid Bionic looks awesome! Hopefully it will be out sometime this month or early August. If I have to wait and deal with the BB for a month I will. Heck my Droid is sitting in a bowl of rice right now so maybe it will start working again by tomorrow. Does anyone know since I am a current Verizon customer am I grandfathered in for life with unlimited data for $30. I know new customers will have capped data plans starting July 7 but do current customers get to keep their unlimited plan when they renew their contract or does that expire at the end of their current contract?

Yes you'll be grandfathered just as long as you keep it active.

What phone would you get, and why?
I'm not sure why people that are having problems deciding ask this question. It doesn't matter what I or anyone else would buy. Why is a good question to ask as you do need to assess the suitability of any device for your own needs/wants.

Rather than go about it backwards, provide your needs/wants and we can then provide more meaningful responses to your question. If nothing else, check out device in person for yourself to assess your preferences for physical characteristics such as form factor, size, weight, keyboard, display, "build quality" etc. Most people seem to have strong preferences for these items.

My biggest problem with the Droid 3 is the bogo offer, it makes me think they can't sell them.
Assess the device itself and its suitability to you. Not the current sales offer.

i have got android G8. did anybody aslo use it and does it worth the money i have paid.
who can give me some suggestion.
Worth is always highly subjective. We can't tell you if the G8 is worth it or not to you. That's for you to determine. Did you buy it without doing any research?
