Just got my Atrix Fri. evening and now have all updates installed including Gingerbread 2.3.4. Is there a way to set it up to notify you of a text message every so often (5 min or so) until you read that text? Just in case you miss the first text message notification.
My fingerprint reader does not work? Is there a manual to go with the new version since there are many changes and settings which are total different than the older version.
I love this phone!!!!
Thanks for any help.

On the repeating the text notification. There's not a way with the stock SMS app.

I use Handcent SMS (Free) and, I just checked. In the notification settings, there is a Reminders section where you can tell it to remind you, set the time interval and how many times it reminds you (Say, every 1 minute, 10 times or Every 5 minutes until you check the message... and any other combo you can think of).

As for the fingerprint scanner. It's function and instructions are no different than on 2.2. I can tell you this... it's a CONTACT scanner, not OPTICAL like many laptops have.

This means it only reads the part of your finger that touches the scanner. When you set it up (And you may need to re-do this), hold the finger FLAT against the scanner and pull it across SLOWLY. Don't press too hard, but don't be too light with it. You have to play with it to get a feel for it.
When you go to unlock, you have to have your finger flat and pull it across slowly.

The OPTICAL scanners that many laptops use can read your finger at any angle, including the sides that aren't touching it. Not the case with this one.

Just play with it until you get a feel for it.

Thanks WolfmanRobby. The Handcent SMS works perfectly.
I will need to work on the fingerprint scanner. I did not try it before I updated to Gingerbread, and I did read a posting stating that the fingerprint scanner did not work after updateing. I will try again with your suggestions.
Thanks,

I did read a posting stating that the fingerprint scanner did not work after updateing.

A lot of people assUme (see what I did there? ;) ) that updates are the cause of problems that they are not, or of problems that don't exist. I went through this for YEARS on the BlackBerry phone updates.

I compare it to this.... when you get your car out of the shop for even a minor repair, every little rattle, or strange thing HAS to be the related to the mechanic screwing something up. When, in reality, 99% of the time, the problem was there before, or it's a non-issue. You are just more alert and noticing it now.

I agree with you about updates not being the cause of problem. However, I have tried and tried numous times with your suggestions for the fingerprint reader. I can not get it to read at all, not even once. I only wish I would have checked that out before the update. All else seems to work fine, so I guess i either do without the reader or take the phone back for another one.

This may sound like a stupid question, but did your Atrix have a little, clear sticker on the FingerPrint reader when you got it?

Mine didn't, but 2 of the 3 my fiance and her kids got did. It was just a little, clear, thin sticker. Like they put over the screen on some devices to protect them from scratching in shipping.

Does yours look like it might have one of those on there??

If not, then you may have a defective FingerPrint reader. That's a warranty replacement.

I appreciate your suggestions! There was no clear plastic protective cover on the reader. Have been reading some forums about the problem and a reset is one of of the suggestions. I may do that and see if that will spark it in to life. At this point there is no indication of any activity at all when I swipe my finger over the reader.

Well WolfmanRobby, I managed to get the fingerprint reader working. Read in forum to turn off atrix, pull battery, pull the sim card, I also pulled the storage card, and while all was out press the on button. Put it all back together and it started to work. I had already turned it off and pulled the battery, but that did not work. So, not thinking pulling the sim card would do anything, I figured I had not thing to lose and by golly it WORKED!

Pulling the SIM card fixed the fingerprint reader??? That's wild!

I'm going to chalk that up with going to the little Chinese Acupuncturist and getting needles stuck in your neck to fix erectile dysfunction! LoL!!
Then again, weren't our phones built in China??? Maybe there is come Chi point we don't know about???

I'm just glad you got it working without having to take it back!
