Root Roms, roms, roms...where to start?

Just rooted TB over the weekend. Never rooted a phone before this. Only smartphones I have ever owned were the HTC Incredible and this phone. Think I'm ready to try a custom rom, but not sure where to start and hoping to lean on the experience of some heavy flashers(that didn't sound right). I think I'd like to start with a Froyo sense rom. As I understand, some Verizon apps like NFL Mobile won't work on some or all AOSP roms. So I'd like to go froyo sense for this reason and because it's all I'm familiar with at this point. I also use my phone for just about everything, so I can't have the alarm clock or ringer or camera/camcorder not function properly or cause me headaches; the little things on the phone. I would like the phone to: run faster(overclock, if possible) and not decrease battery performance from stock, have DSP Equalizer available(read the threads on installing it yourself and they seem very troublesome, but also read it comes pre-installed on only AOSP roms), and just be stable with very few problems. I'm sure one day I'll be a crazy flasher like you guys(no pun intended) and throw caution to the winds, but I like to start small. Can you guys give me any rom suggestions that might meet my hopes?

I love flashing :D I was looking at my nandroid backups today and realized I have flashed more in the last two weeks than I have changed by clothes.

I can't really give advise on which Froyo Sense rom to use as I am a GB AOSP type of guy. I do not believe there are any Froyo roms that are not stable, I also think they have all working parts where if you go with GB or AOSP there may be things that don't work (NFL mobile, camera/camcorder, random apps that only 1 or 2 people try to use).

You may notice that Froyo roms are not being developed any more as well. I think many of the devs have made the jump to GB and there is more demand for GB roms as well. Like I have told you before, if you try something and don't like it then flash something else :)

[ROM] [FROYO] [07.01.11] Das BAMF 1.8.6

More and more devs are starting to use rootzwiki over XDA, too much drama over at XDA for people

Drama thats created by people being too lazy to read the OP and atleast the last page of a thread in most cases. Not all I understand, cause Ive been involved in some, but thats mostly what it is.

Yeah, it seems pointless to have so many different places to get info from. If devs had to create a new thread for each new version of the roms then it wouldn't be so daunting for the noobs that see a rom with 400+ pages of replies and then don't want to filter thru it all to find the 1 question they have. I've noticed more devs going to Rootzwiki and not posting on XDA that were not involved in any drama. What I don't understand is why they think the people causing it will not just filter over there?

God, I hope not.

People are much more civil on rootz right now.

I have never understood why people get so uptight about repeat questions. Searching for answers on forums can be very difficult for noobs--they might not even know what exactly to search for. The forums exist to disseminate information...which includes asking and answering questions. People say they clutter up a thread...who cares? That's what the thread exists for! So you take away repeat questions and a 500 post thread becomes a 300 post thread. So what?

What kind of moron spends ten minutes searching when you can just post a direct question and get it answered? Searching for an answer is every bit a matter of faith that 1) you can find an answer and 2) the answer still applies.

I hope the ones that cant be bothered to read continue to go over there. XDA has been pretty good as of late. People are reading threads, and asking good questions. I also heard rumors that Bamf is coming back to XDA. I can only hope Chingy does the same.

I love it when I see two posts saying the exact opposite things. I personally wish the devs were all on twitter and just announced that way with links to whatever place they wanted to release the roms from, either that or they included something in their roms like OMFGB does where you can check for nightlys in god mode as long as it doesn't force close. But until all the devs listen to my suggestions I will keep following 3 forums and hope a new one doesn't pop up somewhere else for me to follow.

Seems like that should be an emulator site...but it wouldn't strike me as odd in the least, I remember when the devs used to post here at AF then all hell broke lose with people kanging features and not giving credit

Heh, I only recently figured out what Kang meant. Its such a stupid word. Lol. I prefer jacked to kanged.

XDA is a bit better now. I think the defections have had their effect. XDA is a wonderful depository of information and I would hate to see it go away completely--I just want the bad posters to go away.

Maybe it is better to have a bit of competition to keep the mods on their toes.

For the developers, they are probably best off having their own repositories that they can point to in the OPs of their threads so they don't have to go so nuts keeping all the forums up to date. And if they tweet their new developments, everyone goes nuts posting about the update on the forum anyway.

Thats pretty much how Synergy thread works now. One thread on XDA, one on his site, and for the most part as of late, things have been pretty stable. Theres the download site as well as the repo.
