Sweeterhome theme crashed droid and can't boot up in safe mode

I have been using sweeter home for a few weeks and I downloaded a theme that forced closed Sweeter Home. Since sweeter home was my default deasktop. I could not get back to the main desktop.

I tried starting in safe mode, by holding down the gold key and pressing the power button. Then I released the power button and kept holding down the gold key until I heard a buzz. The phone then rebooted after a few seconds.

I am at a loss what to do now? I am considering a hard reset.

I have had Sweeter Home not allow me to get to the unlock screen upon booting after installing a few themes as well. What has always worked for me is to put my DROID into my multimedia dock and let it boot. Worked every time. If you don't have the multimedia dock, just boot up with the charging cable plugged in and experiment with placing a magnet on the back of the DROID, near the center. That will trigger the multimedia dock app. The OEM CarDock would probably work as well.

Should I assume from reading this thread that this is not a good "widget" or "app" (still not sure how to tell the diffrence between the two..) to use on my droid..... When you talk about booting up in safe mode and all these other technical problem fixers... I start picturing the Blue screen of death.... makes me very nervous...:(

An app is a program that opens it's own separate window. A widget is something that runs and displays on one of your home screens.

Honestly, Sweeter Home 2 is not for the faint of heart. Not because it can screw up your phone (it takes a lot to do that, honestly) but because it's very unsatisfying unless you spend a lot of time building it. You are not just taking a GUI and modifying it, you're essentially building one from scratch.

As I said in another thread getting a Home alternative like GDE or Home ++ is like customizing your car. Having SH2 is like going to the parts warehouse with a set of tools and attempting to build your dream ride.

I think you did the safe mode process incorrectly. What is the "Gold Key?"

Do it like this:
Power off the Droid
Open the slider
hold down the physical "Menu" button
While holding it down, press the power button until the screen illuminates
When the Droid red eye appears, you will get a long vibrate....longer than the standard pulse.
After the long vibrate, you may release the "Menu" button.
"Safe Mode" will appear in the lower corner of the display.

SH2 is an awesome program, too bad the darn thing doesn't work for me

I am one of those unlucky few that gets stuck on the Droid eye at startup

And I can't seem to get a log using ADB.

To me SH2 is a little chemistry set, with enough ingredients to make nitroglycerin. Harmless, unless you are lucky enough to mix the correct ingredients, and the whole thing will blow up on you,

thanks for explaining it so well. i completely understand what you meant. I won't ask you anymore questions about this.... but you mentioned a different thread you described it in. I am looking for a thread that thoroughly discusses widgets and the better ones and describes what they do etc...... would the one you were describing be one and could you point me to it?

Most good widget conversations can be found in the "android applications" forum on this website since most widgets can be used on any android phone.

I also did a widget search and came up with this:

I hope it helps
