I've seen quite a few negative threads regarding the Hero and Android in general, let's hear some comments from those that want to praise it!

For me it has to be the ability to run multiple apps at the same time and to replace any stock app I don't like with one I prefer. Also on the hardware side the phone call clarity and volume is amazing compared to my previous phone. Coming from a Linux and a Google apps background Android just fits so perfectly into me and my family

The level of customisation that's available.

Sense UI; Android is awesome but sense UI just makes it that much more delicious.

The shape; the 'chin' makes it nicer to hold.

The usefulness of it; I use the calender, Twidroid and Email ALL THE TIME.

Actually there are loads of apps I use all the time...

Multitasking, for sure. I didn't realise the iphone COULDN'T do that until I got my Hero.

Widgets! I am forever rearranging my homescreens for optimum effiiency...

I like it more than I thought I would. I don't like having to turn off the internets all the time just to get my battery to last a whole day, but I suppose I do like being able to turn the internets on occasionally. I don't like how long it takes to sync but I do like having my mail in my pocket. I like the touch keyboard but not when I'm walking, etc.

Swings and roundabouts. All in all it's less annoying than I expected and I'm easily annoyed, so well done HTC.

Coming from a WinMo, Hero + Android tops it all off 500%!
I couldn't agree more with the Sense UI, making it customizable to yourself and only yourself. The Widgets are tremondously awesome to the fact that I rearrange, add, delete my widgets different places almost every week or the little time i have throughout the week. I love how i can have my email, IM, skype right in my pocket all the time cuz i am a fiend of email and msn. The chin makes it more comfortable for my fingers to hold even tho my friends keep telling me that it's such an awkward design. the beautiful screen makes it look more in amazement when you have backgrounds that are like HD. ahhh! i can keep going but all i gotta say is, awesome. It may have its flaws but its regrettably awesome

Yep, love my Hero.

Had it for a couple of months now. Can't stop fiddling with it. New apps, widget layouts, wallpapers etc.

For me it's an amazing PDA with a perfectly good phone and messaging device. Integration with Google is something I obviously knew about but was pleasantly surprised by how good it is when you start using it.

It does about 90% of what I use my home PC for plus its a phone plus it goes everywhere with me.

LOVE IT!

I love my Hero because:

1. The touch screen is smoooooth and responsive.

2. I decide what it looks like, the custom-ability is second to none.

3. Multi tasking, simply a must on any phone or any device for that matter.

4. The feel of the curve in my hand, it feels safe and it fits just right.

5. It's not an iphone, don't get me wrong I had one for 18months and it's a good phone, but now EVERYBODY has one.

6. Scenes, linked to #2, I can change the look and feel of the phone for different situations in a couple of seconds.

Cons? Wide and varied, The Marketplace needs serious attention, the keyboard isn't that great, the browser is a little off, I can live with everything else.

Oh and it's not an iphone, did I mention that?

Cheers Al

I'm gonna jump on this one as I do find myself moaning about Android a lot.

My G2 (T-Mobile version of Hero) is bloody brilliant. I was a bit worried about the shape when I first got it, but the chin actually makes the thing really nice to hold. I love the feel of it, the finish and the weight. It feels good and solid.

I love the Sense UI. I tried turning it off and using the "standard" Android and that seemed very slow, not nice at all.

I love the apps - at least those that I have kept. There's a lot of dross but there are some real gems in there. K-9 Mail is working really well for me and handles my Gmail accounts, Hotmail via POP3 and a number of IMAP accounts as well. Twidroid is working really well as a Twitter app with Seesmic as a backup. eBuddy seems to be reliable, keeps a connection and is making me use IM more and more.

BeebPlayer has great potential but very rarely play a whole show. Record It has saved me on a number of occasions from missing something. Not tried the Amazon MP3 store yet but that looks good.

I have it on my person from just about the moment I get up to when I go to bed and that's not happened since I got my first Treo 650 a long time ago.

So - my Hero is good. Very good.

The way Google are managing Android though....that's another story.

Got mine the morning they were available at the orange shop because I was so highly anticipating this phone. I spose that's pretty sad but many more did It for the iPhone. Suffice to say I don't feel let down, I could easily repeat all the praise others have already given but all I will say Is that I still havent stopped playing with it and making It my own.
