If my friend gives me a new phone, can I still exchange it

Hi,

My friend is getting a buy-one-get-one-free deal with a Droid 3 or Droid X2, and it seems like while either of these phones are excellent, some duds have had battery life problems. I'm just wondering, if I get unlucky and end up with a phone like this, will I be able to take it into the Verizon store and exchange it within 30 days, as long as I have the box and maybe a receipt? Or does it need to be linked to my account?

Also, related question: should I get the Droid X2 or the Droid 3? I've gotten the sense they're pretty comparable, except the Droid X2 might not be getting any more firmware updates?

Thanks!!

Device selection is a highly subjective (i.e. depends on you) process. Without knowing what you need/want it's impossible to make meaningful suggestions. The specs are out there for you to compare. Provide more info on what you need/want and we can provide some suggestions.

If one device was universally best for everyone then we'd all be using it. Not sure why so many people don't seem to get this. It's really like shopping for anything else.

What do YOU want in a phone?

The DroidX2 has a bigger screen (4.3) while the Droid 3 has 4" screen with Froyo and a physical QWERTY keyboard, Gingerbread and a Front Facing camera. Both have a dual core processors. What would win me over with the Droid3 over the DX2 is that it's a world phone, which means you can use it anywhere in the world.

Here's a good review comparison on both phones for you to read: Motorola DROID 3 vs Motorola DROID X2 - Phone Arena
