Paid apps "cracked" using applanet app.

Hey all, just looking for some advise or a bit of a heads up regarding the Applanet app.
ive installed the app, when i open it up it loads but no selections are visible. what i mean is nothing appears under the "apps","games" or "myapps", icons.

im using a stock desire on 2.2

what am i doing wrong,
do i need to update to 2.3
do i need any additional extensions

On a side note how do you feel about getting paid apps for free ?
personaly id prefer to pay for the real thing, we need more free trials of paid apps.
