Root Renaming backups on Rom Manager

As I understand I can rename the rom anything I want and, as long as I use Rom Manager to do it, the md5sum will not be changed? And I can rename it anything; I don't need to keep any of the original characters?
anything I ever renamed through rom manager could no longer be used through rom manager. now I just boot into recovery and do everything manually

Actually you are right. You can go into the Manage Backups selection and longpress. This will bring up options. Select Rename and rename to whatever you want. You can then use that backup in your restore function.

If you change the file through your laptop file manager, the MD5sums won't match and you won't be able to restore. It is quite simple and works well.

Hope that helps.

thats correct... rename it whatever you want,as has been said, rom manager will not let you rename them in such a way that you cant restore them.

No flash it once and it stays unless u unroot
this is why one should not rely on rom manager for flashing, restoring, etc. rom manger is an app and needs a functional rom to work.

clockwork is reliable- it will always be there for you(unless you flash a stock ruu that replaces it )

After downloading clockwork. Renaming and deleting backups is all ROM manager is good for. Probably the only reason I keep it around..

i dont keep it around at all. i just keep a physical list of backups and descriptions.

Niiiiiiiiice...

Seriously, though what do you do with them. For instance, how will bamf 1.4 help you. Do you just like to see your map? I can understand that.

Also, i noticed you save different versions, a "setup" bu and then full. I generally do a setup once up and running on new ROM in case I flub somethin up so I can go back to it but delete that once I am comfortable that its running smooth. You should start a thread on backup tutorials...in your spare time i mean! :D Thanks for all your advice.

PS noticed you runnin 672 radio, why not 704???

PSS 64!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol i dont do anything with them... i actually hardly ever restore them...in most cases if i want to run a rom ive run before its got an update,so i just go ahead and reflash it. i move them to my pc pretty regularly so i can only keep a handful on the phone. i could honestly go thru and delete prolly 95% of em,but im lazy, and theyre not takin up too much space on my 500gb hard drive :D

yeah i used to regularly do a backup right after setting a rom up,so id have a good backup point if i fudged somethin up on it later, then id do another if it was working good and i wanted to flash somethin else. ive gotten so good at setting them up ive kinda stopped with the setup backups.

as for the radios,no real reason, they are a product of the ruu ive flashed a few times here recently. i had good luck with the 704 radio, tho my download speeds may have been a bit slower. ill prolly go back to it after doing some more testing :)

not sure what else to say... im a flashoholic and a nandroid hoarder! :p
