well i rooted my evo and decided to go with CM7 rom. I loaded it thorugh rom manager no probs. Then i had to restore back to my htc rom for a few reasons and thought i bricked it. It wouldnt restore and hung at white screen. I tried restoring back to my old backups with no luck. I somehow located CM7 and was able to restore back to it.

Before it locked up i had the wimax led blinking green. This was before I even knew what it was but i knew it was a new light. I reloaded CM7 so i could load my contacts and data with it which i forgot to do. I lost the light. I tried loading Wimax back .. which i did ... but the light wont work. I go to test ... and it does nothing. Any ideas ?

Welcome to the forum! First off, I suggest you start doing things manually in recovery because ROM Manager/CW is known to be and can be a bit buggy. I suggest using Amon RA (you can just "Flash Alternate Recovery" from ROM Manager to get it), it's an overall more solid/stable recovery and it's pretty much the standard among our community. Second, download this app and make sure you didn't lose your RSA (Wimax) keys.

Im a newb to all this so forgive me please. What is Amon RA ? I dont have the Wimax keys loaded ... but didnt before when it was working. Any way you can school me to the root/rom world woul dbe appreciated. Its all so new to me. Thanks

amon ra is a custom recovery which allows you to make changes to your phone by flashing .zip files. it will replace rom manager. and i would not use rom maneger as it is very buggy and tends to have more issues then it is worth.

I loaded the keys app ... still nothin.

so when you run the app does it come up with that you do not have your keys?

I get 4g off and on ... but its suppose to work for text regardless of 4g coverage. Are u you referring to the keys or actual wimax led app that i should delete? not sure how to delete the actual led app ... i cant uninstall on phone. I dont even see it on my E: drive/sd card on the computer. I searched for it under recovery mode and still didnt see it. Where is it at ?

I was referring to the Wimax Keys Checker app. To control LED notifications go menu>settings>display>notification flash. I don't see why you would get a LED notification flash for wimax, maybe it's for an email like you mentioned earlier. Turn that notification (email) flash off and see if it stops.

Running CM7 on my evo and can only get a slow blinking green led light. I tried numerous times to go into the notifer app and change color and pattern of light .... doesnt work. The test doesnt even work. I get a slow blinking green light for sms and email. Any ideas?

wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps. if that does not work then re-wipe dalvik cache and cache and and re-flash cm7. and when you say test, what are you referring to?

No ... the test is in the actual wimax notifier application ... not they keys app. The notifer app has the stoplight symbol.

ok got it. have we established that you can get 4g? if you are not getting any 4g signal then we need to know if you have your wimax keys intact. for some reason some people can loose them and then they are gone for good. use the app the frenchy linked to to check if you have them or not.

if the led app is not working right then i would try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see of that helps.

I have wiped cache and delvik already. The link he sent confused me ... had no idea where to start. I get 4g icon in notification bar.

sorry i forgot the he referenced two links. yeah that one is if you loose the keys and how to get them back. this is the app you want https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.wimaxkeys&feature=search_result. it just checks to see if you have them or not. but if you are getting 4g signal then you should be good to go.

ok so you can try and uninstall the led app and then re-install it. probably the best way to do this is to use titanium backup.
