Root Need help partitioning sd card

I want to partition my SD card using rom manager if possible. I don't know how to do it via computer, but I will try as a last result.
Currently, I am going in to rom manager and selecting the option for partitioning. It then says it will reboot and all should be good. However, it boots into clockworkmod recovery and never executes the partition. Is there a step I am missing?

ferrari3000,

Just a quick thread-bump here for you ;)...

I've never partitioned my SD card, so I'm clearly not the best person to help you.

But I did want to mention that (in case you haven't heard or read before) that we try to steer folks away from using the ROM Manager / ClockworkMod recovery on the HTC Eris. The reason being is that virtually all of the near-brickings that we've seen, CWM had been previously used by the owner and the internal memory ended-up having blocks marked as bad for some reason.

We still do not know why this occurs, although there is speculation that ROM Manager enables newbies who might not be as fastiduous about following proper rooting procedures to do things out-of-order or to interrupt processes (battery-pulls, etc.) when they should have have.

Anyway, most folks here in the Eris all-things-root sub-forum (myself included) use and are familiar with Amon_RA's custom recovery for the Eris.

ClockworkMod and ROM Manager surely are fine products that many (even Eris users) have great success and no problems with, but this might be reason why you haven't received any responses so far to your query.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

I agree with scary. I use clockwork on my inc but only amon on my Eris. My personal opinion and suggestion would be to grab scarys track ball optional or track ball not required versions of amon recovery and change to that instead of taking the risk of a brick with clockwork on the Eris. I'd post a link to his thread but I'm on my phone at the moment and can't post one... Maybe scary or someone could post that...? Once on amon recovery you can easily boot into amon recovery and partition your SD card from recovery. I'm guessing you want to partition for app 2 SD on a 2.1 Rom? Your card can be easily setup for that with partitioning in amon recovery. Just tell it what size you want for the three partitions as it asks. Hope this is helpful a little for you.

Well, if the OP has a working Android OS, that I can have him try a little something new I cooked-up a week or so back:

I re-packed jcase's 1-click app (using apktool) with my trackball-optional recovery. Note: the only thing I changed in the app was what recovery.img file that it contained, so its still jcase's 1-click app and all credit for its creation and use goes to him.

You simply run the 1-click app like you normally would if you were rooting for the first time (doesn't matter if you are already rooted since all the app really does is end-up flashing Amon_RA's custom recovery).

I haven't yet had or taken the time to update my alternate recovery thread to account for this new tool, but I'd be happy to point the OP to the app and give him/her the few pointers it would take to get it installed.

I'll still have to leave the SD partitioning info. to great folks like CondemnedSoul, though ;).

Cheers and let me know.

This modified app could come in extremely handy for a lot of people soon if the ones on the 3.0 sense Rom are willing to run the flash back Rom and reroot to test the fix for the 3g drops they are getting. Unrooting, activating and updating prl the rerooting fixed it for me. But you know how people can be about doing too many things lol. If anyone expresses an interest in trying it out do you mind if I mention this and point them in your direction?:)

No problem...I'm going to update the thread tonight if I get a chance. I actually posted some info about it in the last couple of the current posts at the end of the thread. I've had one member over at XDA trying without a problem, so I thinks its ready to include in the installation options.

Cheers!

Excellent :) That's very good news. I'm going to start a thread soon on XDA for the 3g data fix so that it can be easily found and people can post their results in one place for those that try it. I'll wait for you to update yours before I start the thread so I can reference that directly and maybe people will be a little more inclined to try it since it'll be a one flash then 1 click process to fix their issue. Take your time though... I'm kinda tired tonight and will probably crash soon anyway lol. ;)
