GALAPAGOS 005SH - New Android User Ready to Root

Nice to meet everyone, I'm an American who lives and works in Japan and was holding out on buying an Android here until one came out with a keyboard. The Galapagos 005SH came out here and it has a slide-out keyboard (even has 3D screen) so I took the plunge and bought one.

Androids are just now being released in Japan and the Galapagos 005SH is one of the few ones with a keyboard. It has OS 2.2.1 but has a lot of crapware installed on it and I'm ready to root and make it faster and more battery efficient.

Going to try Super-One-Click, if anyone has any other recommendations or advice, warnings, etc. please let me know.

Welcome to Android Forums Shakedaddy! I'm a big rooter myself but I'm not familiar with your device and would hate to send you down the wrong path. There is another member that lives in Japan and I think he said in a post that rooting was not an option over there yet as there's no dev support with japanese phones. However there a lot of members in AF and someone will chime in on this subject.

I can't find any decent information relating to rooting the Galapagos 005SH, other than specs or a review.

Is that the exact name of the tool you are using?

Yes, the android phone that I'm using the called the Sharp Galapagos 005SH.

Just went through all the trouble of installing JDK, then Android SPK　(pain in the neck!), and trying SuperOneClick but it fails to work. Wanting to try another rooting method but not sure which is best.

I can't find any method to root that specific device.

Maybe, as bobcat suggested the device is unrootable?

I tried Super One Click and a whole lot of other standard rooting programs but nothing works. It's been about a month or so, has anybody heard about any ways to root a Sharp Galapagos 005SH? Or are there any new rooting programs in general?

Shakedaddy it seems to be unrootable but everything get cracked one day, so be patient!
The softbank has done a good job to this but when this phone will be selled in worldwide market it will not be unrootable!

however, i doubt it's the case that this phone is unrootable. i haven't read anything that suggests that softbank is so concerned with preventing users from rooting their devices. in fact, it seems to be a pretty unknown practice here in japan. from the research that i've done, it seems that this phone is almost unknown outside of japan, and, perhaps, australia.

i think that's the problem. it's an awesome phone, but it's too obscure. i don't know whether we can expect that to change in the future or not.

I Have a friend in japan and his phone is also 005sh,HE wants me to root his device,but i'm in another country,there's no tools for 005sh,If it's ok for you,please send the tools and tech me how to do it,THANKS(sorry for my bad English)

It does sound like there's no hard information about being able to root the Sharp Galapagos 005sh.

That being said, there are several rooting tools / apps out "there" that I suppose could be tried, many of which use root exploits that are known to work on a variety of phones (however, some are also hardware and Android version dependent).

Try looking for reputable references to these tools: z4root, UnivseralAndroot, SuperOneClickroot, and GingerBreak (xda-developers.com is a good developers site where some of this information might be found).

There's no guarantee that any of these will work and you should certainly exercise all due caution and be aware of the consequences of rooting and attempting to root.

just download the rootkit zip file and execute the "start.cmd" inside the folder.

and dont forget the USB and ADB drivers for therm too
