Hi, I want to s-off my Desire, but I've read that I would need to reflash my recovery with a copy of recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img and the problem is that I can't find a copy anywhere with a corresponding md5 checksum to verifiy its non-corrupt state.

Can anyone point me at a copy with the relevant md5 checksum?

Thanking you in advance :)

I haven't got an Md5 but my source is good. I Download it often.

Alpharev won't replace your recovery unless you choose to install theirs

That's assurance enough for me. could you point me to the source you use, please?

Or is it possible to use unrEVOked to reflash recovery after running Alpharev's s-off?

(Oh, and could you calculate a hash checksum of the file you possess yourself, so that other users like myself could confirm we have the same non-corrupted file that you yourself use? I honestly think this would be worth including in your s-off FAQ/guide)

Only if something goes wrong.

When the alpharev tool asks whether to install their recovery, just say no. Then your original recovery will not be replaced, and you don't need to do anything with it.

Thanks. This is the information I needed!

But, if something goes wrong, where can we find a good copy of recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img? I can't find a link to one anywhere.

The only link I can find to an image with a checksum is to the newer 3.0.0.5 here and we have been advised that 2.5.0.7 is the best version.

Dan already pointed out that unless you decide to use the Alpharev recovery(this is optional), it won't replace your current recovery.

I know. But before I had that explained for me, I had been on a quest to find the elusive recovery image that was referred to as being necessary on xda, and, well, I like loose ends to be tied up. I had not found the Alpharev recovery option explained explicitly anywhere until I asked, and so maybe this should be mentioned in the s-off guide?

I feel I have found all I was seeking, thanks to this forum, and so I am happy for now (until my next anxiety attack ;)).

I just wanted to thank everyone that has offered advice so far on this forum.

I have successfully turned my Desire S-OFF!

I will say one more thing though. As I was flashing the phone, I suddenly wished I had used my laptop, so that the process would have been backed up by the laptop's battery had the mains power chosen that moment to fail. I spent a good few minutes thinking "please don't have a power cut! I promise I will use my laptop next time!"

All was well, but I will always use my laptop in future for flashing, just because of the backup power from the battery.

Dont use clockwork mod, most roms are specifying that amonRA is used.
because there has been load of problems with using clockworkmod.

A recovery that I would use is RMD recovery
[RECOVERY]RMD Recovery v1.0.3.4 | EXT2/3/4+BTRFS | UP TO 3-ext | USB BRICK FIX - xda-developers

its based on amonRA 2.0.1 but with extra features.
Ability to flash img files from recovery.

Below are some of the features
Usb brick fix from menu - you must have S-OFF
Flash images(hboot, recovery, radio and etc) from sd-card - you must have S-OFF
Themes support
Ability to control recovery by volume buttons+power button or by track-pad
Fixed OTA Support some SD-cards(Package not found error)
Show's ROM that you use
Show's Ext partition file system
Full support of btrfs
You can convert your fs to btrfs from menu
All fs conversions without data loss
Allow you to flash old zips
Adds ROM name to backup name in nandroid backup
Toggle signature verification as checkbox
Customizable backup as checkboxes
Extended reboot menu
Fixed all wipes menus, and partition mounts
Compiled by my kernel with btrfs support, and without unneeded modules and drivers

Its gettig good reviews over on xda.

And you can change the themes ans stuff.

Files attahced are recovery.zip unpack and flash usig android flasher

RMD.zip unpack and place the whole file on to your sdcard, this is a theme that im using, this can be tweeked to your liking

only later ones. 2.5.7 is very stable, which is why it is recommended here.

if you look at th clockwork mod thread on xda theres still problems with backups being corrupted, the rason why most developers are recommending amonRA.

amonRA is better and even better still is the one linked above.

Ability to flash recoveries and hboots etc from the recovery, fixing usb bricks etc :)

actually 2.5.0.7 is recommended as is amonRA 2.0.1
anything later from clockwork mod is not good but 2.5.0.7 is fine

also i use that recovery you use. its only available with s-off, incompatible with CWM backups so if he wants to restore something old hell need to flash back to cwm and on top of that its not based on 2.0.1 its 2.2.1 source

i like this recovery but it has its issues like freezing on new flash which requires you to wipe system and wipe cache. if you are coming from cwm then you cannot restore your rom and have to start from fresh.

so for now while i like it i dont recommend it as its still beta and has issues to be ironed out.
i can only recommend stuff that is solid and stable which is cwm 2.5.0.7 and amonRA 2.0.1

also you should link to the xda post and not the zips
