I went up to scan a few documents yesterday and either my scanner or its AC adapter had died. Plugged it into a couple of different outlets and pushed buttons on the front - nothing.

So I went looking for an Android scanning app. I found Camscanner and love it. I laid a doc down on the hardwood floor in a well lit area and touched the button to scan the doc. I was prompted about the quality of the scan and touched the check mark. The app automatically cropped the doc out of the overall image and prompted me again. Another touch on the check mark and I had my scan - remarkably clear. I was able to email it to my laptop as either a JPG or a PDF. I won't be replacing my scanner.

Sounds awesome! But didn't you have to do multiple scans of an 8.5x11 piece of paper? Does it stitch it together?
No. I simply laid the 8.5x11 piece on the floor and shot it from above, including a little floor all the way around. The app took the whole scan in one shot and cropped away the surrounding flooring. I also scanned a cash register receipt and it expanded it to fill the page top to bottom. I was really surprised at how good the image was. A high res computer scanner might have been better, but this was way easier and quicker.

Just for grins, I scanned my laptop screen. I found that you can grab the handle at any of the four corners of the cropped image and adjust the crop. Very cool.

there's another free app that does the same thing called "scan2pdf". i have used it many times on my mt3g. only problem with it was it'd leave a watermark across the image. and no, you dont take several images of it and glue it together lol, that would be ******ed.

does camscanner leave a watermark??? if it doesnt i may switch to that instead.
