Should I get the Charge now?

Should I use my upgrade now to get a Droid Charge (or iphone4); or should I wait until the SGS2/iphone 5 come out in a month or two?

I am currently on a DX2, and while it has a few problems, it is ok most of the time. A few random reboots, once during a call. I don't like the phone myself, but I could live with it for a while.

I found the Charge for 189 on amazon wireless, and being tax free it is a pretty good deal imo compared to Verizon's 299 price.

I never really wanted the Charge, but after considering that the iphone 5/sgs2 may not have LTE, and that I have 3 more upgrades on my family account, I may as well take the plunge.

Only downside is losing an upgrade, just one or two months before the phone that i was really waiting for comes out.

I don't know if you have a Sams Club in your area but the price for the Charge is $149. I am having the same debate with myself. I have the the D2 global a few issues but I have had a grudge against it ever since I was unable to get a replacement for my OG Droid. As much as I would love to get the Bionic there have been wayyy too many issues when the new devices first launch to pay a premium. I know that the prices for the older devices normally drops right before a new device comes out so that is what has me hesitating.

This is no reason not to get this phone. While this was an issue when i first got this phone it has not been as of lately. I notice as well it never happens when you have 4G coverage. Every phone has its issues, but again no reason to stay away from this device.

IMO, it's a completely valid reason to stay away. It has a flaw that's been reported by numerous people, including me, as evidenced by the link I supplied. Even people with 4G are reporting it and Verizon won't acknowledge it as an issue. With several other phones (SGS2) that are supposed to be available in just a month on Verizon, why take a chance on a phone that has a known problem?

OP - If it helps, we have a thread with things people like and dislike about the Charge. Perhaps I'll help in your decision!

I love my Charge, but if the SGS2 really comes out next month, it may be worthwhile to wait and at least weigh the options at that point. Just think, it also gives you a month to head to a vzw store and play with the phone(s) currently available.

Get whatever phone fits you & your needs. I'd tell you, heck yeah get a Charge, as a current happy Charge owner, but that would be too easy. And now that 4G is in my home area as of last friday i would tell you or ask anyone for that matter why would you buy a phone in this day & age that isn't 4G? To me that just makes no sense.

It's the same reason saying, Front facing cameras are the new rage...why get a phone that has no FFC over a phone that does have one.

Or

Why get a single gore 1ghz phone in this day and age over a dual core phone?

Some people, myself included, do not care about 4g. This is why I pay for Wifi at my apartment as well as at my college, I have wifi if i don't want to use 3g.

When i buy a phone my first three thoughts are
A)What Kind of camera does it have? 8+ megapixel preferred, can settle for 5
B)Is it at least 1ghz(Single Core) or higher
C)Manufacturer(If it is HTC, more then likely it will never be brought by me)

If my phone has 4g....GREAT...If not...Not a big deal as 4g is not mainstream in this day and age. 2012...maybe....

To answer the OP, I love my Droid Charge...I really do.
But given the cool new phones coming out, I say if you really can't wait then get the Charge and if you can wait go for the Bionic :)
