Hey guys quick question I have an Optimus M Rooted with The Sense Rom and I have to say its pretty good. But I have just been informed that that Lg has taken out the 2.2.2 update I am aware that it blocks rooting but I'm sure that will be solved in a matter of time. Also before putting the sense ROM I accidentally deleted my stock ROM. So my question is should I update to 2.2.2 and what are the pros and cons of this? Thanks for your help! :)

There does seem to be a difference. I've noticed my phone is a little snappier. I don't have to wait ages to send out one text now, pressing send results in a message sent instantly, among other general stock Android 2.2.2 fixes.

Phone seems to freeze, and reboot much less. It happened to me once since the update. It used to happen to me once a day.

The only issue being is no one has exploited the update yet for rooting, obviously. If you can deal with no root, and that annoying easy wifi, and myextras app, then it's a welcome update seeing the only reason I wanted gingerbread is for the above issues to be fixed.

Fixed all that by going with a custom rom.

Sense rom is a fan favorite but I like teamchicken eater.

I have a much quicker then stock, (its overclocked as well) I dont get any freezes, or reboots.

The update according to LG is to stop the phone from having the reboot issues. So it is a major update for a lot of users out there.

makes sense. I never had the reboot issues while it was still entirely stock i think, but i've seen enough complaints from others, and we have to remember that rooters are not the majority of android users. for most people, it's just a fancy phone.

Hello to all, “puh-lease”, excuse my “noob-ie-ness!” I bricked my rooted phone (LG-MS690/2.2.1) yesterday, only after having it a full sixteen days. I just restored/update the phone by going to LG Mobile Updater. This method was really easy…maybe because I had my MEID. I wasn’t aware there was a newer version, so it updated my LG-MS690 to 2.2.2...it pissed me off because now I cannot get root and all the other tricked out apps I had on my phone. The only thing for me that came good out this is…now I have 3G instead 1X…Dallas, TX. Any help to downgrade back to 2.2.1 version or what can I do to get root back or am I AOOL? Thanks for any help/advice. J

Thanks, actually the Gingerbreak is the app I used to root my 2.2.1 MS690 when I first purchased it. It is very easy to use, one click. I bricked my phone, when I went into recovery using ROM Manger; I was trying to download a cooked file from UOT Kitchen. So:
1) Downgrade 2) Custom Recovery 3) ROM /Teamchickeneater
Thanks so much I am about to read up on it and give it a go. Thanks!!!

I read Finally Custom Recovery for 2.2.1 stock phones and it is a bit confusing to me. I am very new at this. I want a rooted Optimus M 2.2.2 to remove the Metro stuff. I suppose I'll wait for a 1click like the Gingerbreak for 2.2.1. ...Some one tell me that this is a simple feat to accomplish.
No Rooted 2.2.2 yet, it may be weeks or months before its rooted.
If you do the downgrade to 2.2.1 you can get rooted.
