Im in atlanta and they told my girlfriend it was discontinued when she went to get one so she had to settle for their "newest" androind phone that humawei m835 which is absolutely terrible

Bestbuy still has it listed, and lg still ha it listed on their website, the only site that doesnt have them is metropcs. Unless maybe it's temporarally discontinued because they don't have enough in stock?

Metro has said the Optimus M is End of Life, they have the new phones coming out very soon, including the samsung admire which they plan on having for back to school sales. That phone has no better hardware, that im aware, but it has android 2.3 so if they continue to sell the optimus, and give it 2.3 why would you buy a new phone at twice the price when a $99 optimus will work.

Yeah I hope theyre next wave is better than this one, cause I know an owner of every android they have and their all jealous of mines, I was gonna switch to the galaxy but I heard battery life is terrible, the ascend my friend says is crappy.

P.S. She went up there without me, she was posed to be getting the m but when they told her that she picked that one without me researching it first. I told her before she opened the box it was gonna suck, now she thinks its android period lol

Apparently, it has an 800 mhz cpu, while our Optimus has a 600. That still won't let it run flash though.

I could not find much information on the cpu of the admire, I would think it has better then armv6 cpu, which is why the optimus, and the prevail, which is stock clocked at 800mhz are not flash capable The actual mhz of the phone have much less to do with being able to run flash then the architecture.
But my meaning about the admire being a low end phone has nothing to do with its cpu running 800mhz but more its overall quality is about the same as the optimus, so instead of giving the optimus, which they have already sold the 2.3 just sell a new phone with 2.3 instead, way to make more money.

lol "hard to get"? I bought mine in January I'm pretty sure, latest February, so that's when it was still relatively new. It's amazing that they haven't even been selling this phone for a year, and they're already trying to get rid of it. My only complaints (if complaint is the right word) are lack of flash, lack of faster processor, and lack of bigger screen. And if I really want those things, I just need to buy a beefier phone instead of bitching lol.

The Optimus M is available on the website as of today, however the local dealers in town are saying its back ordered.

I wouldn't be surprised if its going EOL though. Its priced $20 over the M835, and with all the issues people have had (some people are returning it 4-5 times before getting a good one), I could see them wanting to be done with it.

I guess there is no perfect phone. But which one is even 'ok'. Some report the battery life on the indulge as being a major problem. Thats a deal breaker for me.

Is the $80 M835 any good? Screen seems kinda small, and its pretty new so not a lot of reviews/tweaking posts yet.

I heard the m835 is not good it got poor reviews/ratings And mostly complained about camera, battery life, screen, and performance. It is not a good phone, fron what I heard the optimus is way better then the m835. Many people say it's a better phone.

It is really competitive, but its a budget android phone.

The optimus is not discontinued is just backordered.
LG announced that all the optimus line up will get 2.3 update, god knows when though.

This will not make the phone run flash since its a processor instruction that the optimus doesnt posess.

If you are crazy for one, best buy has them, but they wont activate them so you have to visit a store or dealer, or thru *228

The Optimus M is being discontinued. Probably when current stock runs out? All the Metro employees are saying it's EOL, end of life. Now all the other U.S. carriers are still selling it like crazy -- AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Virgin, U.S. Cellular, Cricket... It's only Metro that is killing their Optimus because they have two new phones coming out that are basically clones of this: the HTC Wildfire S and the Samsung Admire.

If Metro was still selling it and they let LG upgrade it to 2.3, then why would you buy a $200 phone (HTC Wildfire S) that has 99% the same specs as the $99 Optimus M (600 MHz CPU, 512MB RAM, screen size, etc), both running 2.3 Android.

So, Metro is killing it. You can still get it for now, but not for long.

Whether we will get the 2.3 update from LG is debatable. If Metro is no longer selling it, does LG still feel a need to provide it for the Optimus M? The stock ROM has Metro bloatware, remember? So, LG would have to update the ROM with the bloatware apps and all that -- for a phone no longer being sold. Luckily, the Cricket Optimus is still being sold, so the 2.3 update for them could be ported for us by our independent developers. I hope LG DOES still provide it to us. But blame Metro if they do not.
